Guest MattP Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 Did anyone see Cliff Ginetta's ratings in the Mercury? There's rose-tinted glasses and there's gibbering insanity. He should be sectioned. Whack them up I could do with a laugh today.
JimmyB Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 Kasper 4 - Not his best game, on another day he'd have saved probably 3 of the goals. St. Ledger 3 - He was awful, in every way possible. Konchesky 4 - Beaten so many times by Sturridge and offered little going forward. Lost Torres for his headed goal. Bamba 5 - Think he lost Cahill for the first, got us out of a few hairy situations, though. Morgan 4 - Lack of pace was exposed massively. Gallagher 6 - Set pieces were woeful but I thought he looked dangerous and was very much involved in our best moves in the first half, did alot of St. Ledgers closing down too. Dyer 5 - A few decent runs, but missed 2 good chances, standard Dyer. Wellens 6 - Started slowly but grew into the game and put himself about before being replaced. Danns 9 - He was class, good on the ball, some decent attempts at goal, drove us forward, put in some great challenges and never stopped running. Nugent 7 - Closed down well and looked dangerous when running at the Chelsea defence. Beckford 6 - Put himself about abit and took his goal well, a few wayward shots. Peltier 6 - Didn't do too much wrong after coming on. Schlupp 5 - Couldn't get into the game from the wing. Marshall 7 - Looked good on the ball and scored a brilliant goal. Our defence really was outclassed, nearly every time a Chelsea player ran at them they ended up on their arses.
Bettsj2 Posted 20 March 2012 Posted 20 March 2012 Absolutely, the side under Frank Burrows put up a far better effort against a far better Chelsea side. To the folk who gave Kasper and Bamba 6-7's lol The main difference that night was unbelievably Levi Porter. He came on as sub when we were 2-1 down and a couple of quality deliveries later and we were 3-2 up. He goes off injured and we lose 4-3 and we never see him again. Always wonder if he hadnt got injured that night would he have lost the plot. We deffo wouldnt have lost the game. Every time he got the ball, he skinned a couple of players and set up a decent attack. I also wish that Burrows and Taggart were given the job till the end of the season that year. They seemed to have the team playing well as a unit and the crowd definitely would have been behind them. Ah well. As for the game on Sunday, the ratings people are giving are so erratic its untrue so i'm not going to throw any in just say that Kasper was below par, we saw the dangers of having Bamba in defence (if you are a defender, you should be defending!) and overall, we were slow, slow, slow. Even the players who we consider to have pace seemed to struggle. Just the difference in class but a real eye opener as to how far we have to go if we want to compete in the Premiership.
blueblood88 Posted 20 March 2012 Posted 20 March 2012 Schmeichel - 4 worst performance this season from him, seemed out of position for at least three goals. SSL - 3 had a 'mare. Enough said. Morgan - 4 couldn't deal with the pace or movement of chelsea's front men. Bamba - 3 STOP fvcking around with the ball in our box! Konchesky - 6 the best of the back 5, weak defensively, but gets a 6 for the way he was attacking and trying to put Chelsea under pressure. Gallagher - 1 just fvck off. Danns - 7 good game again, great energy. Really starting to like this lad. Wellens - 6 nothing really bad, nothing great. Dyer - 7 tried to make things happen and give their full back something to think about. Nugent - 7 100% effort yet again, led the line well, did a lot of unselfish work. Beckford - 7 decent game, worked hard again. Good finish for his goal. Peltier - 5 again like the rest of the defence, struggled with their movement. Marshall - 7 looked very promising, and what a finish! Schlupp - 6 some decent touches here and there, couldn't really get into the game

jonlcfc1990 Posted 20 March 2012 Posted 20 March 2012 Can't really judge the players we were just outclassed on the day but it was a great day out we showed yet again that our club will not fade peacefully into the night and we will walk alongside each other and the team until we reach the goal and glory of the premier league! COME ON YOU BLUES
accessory Posted 20 March 2012 Posted 20 March 2012 Whack them up I could do with a laugh today. He gave EVERYONE 9 (even Bamba and Gallagher! ) except Danns who got a 10. To say Mr Ginnetta suffers from severe delusions is a massive understatement. But there are some Mercury readers who will believe that crap..

Charl91 Posted 20 March 2012 Posted 20 March 2012 My favourite players let me down. Kasper is normally great, but he had a very poor game. Bamba I still think is a great defender, and as one of our only pacey defenders, we needed him to play well. However, he had a nightmare game, positionally all over the place and falling over. At the end of the day, 2 goals at Chelsea away is a good achievement, even against a second-string Chelsea team; it was our defending that let us down. Our strikers were fairly good, Neil Danns was a legend, everyone else was poor to dreadful.
JimmyB Posted 20 March 2012 Posted 20 March 2012 Beckford looked much better than nugent Not for me mate, Beckford had a decent game no doubt, but Nugent never stopped running in the 2nd half, my only criticism of him is when he was through on goal and tried to square it to Becks.
yag101 Posted 20 March 2012 Posted 20 March 2012 Thought we were criticising our defence not our forwards... The defence were terrible. We stood off them and never looked like closing them down on the edge of the box. And we conceded twice from players being completely unmarked for corners. 4's are generous for the defence imo. Regarding closing down and pressing, that's more down to Pearson's defensive instructions and coaching, we defend as a team.
