HoustonFox Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Kasper - 4 - Weak on crosses, at fault for some goals, other weaknesses too. Didn't own his area SSL - 3 Feel sorry for him, worked in the week, but not today Morgan - 6 - Not too many positives on the scale we're used, but got a grip as game wore on, tried to direct Bamba too, but that's like herding cats Bamba - 2 - One of the worst performances from a 'defender' I've ever seen. His usual woeful marking on top of poor rest of game. Get rid & cash in. Konch - 4 - Weak by his standards, tried to make stuff happen going forward, complete neglect of defensive duties left Torres in acres of space constantly on the wing Gally - 3 - Was he injured from the start? Wellens - 7 - Grew as the game went on, weak first 20mins but some great balls down channels & simple passes in the remaining 70mins Danns - 8 - Our MotM Great performance after the first 20mins when Mata ran rings around our midfield. A beast for the rest of game tho Dyer - 6 - Constant threat, but poor passes Nuge - 6- Game of 2 halves, happy to be marked out the game for 1st half, not open for passes, much better in 2nd Beckford - 7 - Same as Nuge, was AWOL for 1st half, much better 2nd half, good goal & made stuff happen up front Peltier - 5 - Poor on right midfield, but settled the defence when he moved to RB Marshall - 7 - Mainly for the cracker of the goal, think he looks useful elsewhere though Schlupp - N/a I didn't see enough of him to rate him. My problem not his Nigel Pearson - 6 - Of all the games to play a high line, cost us dearly with the defence all over the place. Good positive subs at the right times too Officials - Didn't see anything wrong I'm getting tired of writing this CC but spot on again today.
Corky Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Schmeichel- 4 (Made a couple of good saves, but interspersed with poor decisions) St Ledger- 5 (Struggled all game) Bamba- 4 (All over the place) Morgan- 4 (Good on the ball, awful off it) Konchesky- 5 (Mixed bag) Gallagher- 2 (Dreadful corners) Wellens- 6 (Better second half) Danns- 7 (Our best midfielder) Dyer- 5 (Usual from Lloyd) Nugent- 6 (Ran the channel well, should've shot instead of trying to find Beckford) Beckford- 7 (Held the ball up well and looked quite threatening) Peltier- 6 (Decent shift) Schlupp- 5 Marshall- 6 (Fabulous goal)
okie fox Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 From tv Schmeichel -5- Uncharacteristically disappointing. Stayed glued to the goal line. StLedger -4- Looked poor against their wingers. Morgan -5- Slow, but stuck to the task. Bamba -4- Woeful positioning, looked completely out of his depth. Koncheskey -5- Better going forward than defending, skinned by Sturridge a few times. Gallagher -4- Corners poor again, contributed very little. Danns -8- MOM for us. Wellens -5- Worked hard, but got caught in possession quite a bit. Dyer -5- Up against quick full backs so not much joy. Beckford -7- Dangerous at times. Nugent -7- Ran well at their defense in second half. SUBS: Peltier -5- Was way up field during several breakaways at end. Schlupp -5- Same as Dyer. Marshall -7- For great shot.
maynefox Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 From being at the game: Kasper: (5) SSL: (5) Bamba: (5) Morgan: (6) Konchesky: (5) Wellens (5) Dyer (6) Gallagher: (0.5) and thats for coming OFF the pitch, woeful. Nugent (6) Beckford (6) Danns (8) Pelts: (6) Marshall (6) Schlupp (5)
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Schmeichel - 4 St Ledger - 5 Bamba - 4 Morgan - 5 Konchesky - 5 Gallagher - 3 Glad he went off! Wellens - 5 Danns - 8 Dyer - 5 Nugent - 7 Beckford - 7
Guest ttfn Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 NP´s high line was a positive sign in my opinion. We could have had a deep back four and been overrun anyway. We came with a positive intent but 2 down after 18 mins changes all tactics. Chelsea were never in need to hurry so could play their game. Peter S must have been slightly embarrassed by Kaspers performance between the sticks. Never got out for the crossings and didn´t dominate at all, and cost a couple and seemed very low key compared to previously. Gally was absolutely awful - why he was picked remains a mystery. Spectators awesome - repeat this at the KP please. In general we should be proud. Didn`t adopt the hedgehog tactics - full marks for that - think we can be proud of the performance - I mean one the the best teams in Europe?! Come on City - the Championship will be a doddle after this.......... I think playing a high-line was supposed to compress the field so that Mata would have less space between the back four and midfield. I understand the thinking, but Sturridge, Kalou and Torres are nothing if not quick, and aside from Bamba we have a fairly slow back 4.
lcfcbaby Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Kasper - 4 His communication with defenders was poor today and he didn't really do a good job! Good distribution though SSL - 4 Pearson should have started him in centre back with Morgan! Playing him out of position against Chelsea was silly and it was costly! He looked confused, was good going foward but lacked the speed and skill when defending! Bamba -3 I didn't think he was very good made many defensive errors and gave away more than one goal! He liked to go forward a lot and so does Morgan which created a lot of trouble at the back! He should be dropped. Morgan - 4 didn't work well with Bamba and no communication between him and kasper. However saved us a few times! Likes to get forward which is okay of you partner him with SSL Konchesky - 5 wasn't as strong today he was off the pace and it was evident he isn't premier league fit yet! But he made some vital passes and tackles! Gally -3 not been very good recently and today was no different disappointing but we have to get behind him If we want to see an improvement Danns - 8 MOTM he was good and lively he had a Great chance which Beckford capitalised on Wellens - 7 not great first half but great second came out fighting an made some crucial tackles and never gave up! Dyer - 4 great in championship but his pace never really helped us today Chelsea were a lot more fitter than us and it was evident Nugent - 6 thought he had a really good second half played In some really good balls and showed great skill. Missed an opportunity by passing to Beckford though Beckford - 6 didn't do much apart from score a goal but wasn't given the opportunity to! We got the ball forward and has chances but they weren't threatening! Chelsea were solid today and we showed the fighting spirit but there was no communication and overall when they had the ball we struggled to defend! This Morgan Bamba partnership I dislike! Their goals bar their first came from similar situations, CB's need to stay in position!
Dan Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Schmeichel - 3. Easily his worst game for us. Could've prevented some of their goals I thought. St Ledger - 5. Caught out of position very often, still playing an unfavoured role. He does have some occasional bits of class though. Morgan - 5. Not bad but again, dodgy positioning. Bamba - 4. See Morgan, only worse. Konchesky - 5. Meh. Part of a shambolic defence, shame his enthusiasm down the left isn't shared by Dyer. Gallagher - 2. Utter liability. Wellens - 3. Totally out of his depth. Everyone would've been to an extent but he looked well off the pace. Danns - 9. Was everywhere today, great display. MOTM from us. Dyer - 3. Completely ineffective, him and Gallagher are a League One width at best, dreadful. Nugent - 7. Good game I thought, ran a lot as always and caused them problems down the left, never got chances to shoot though. Beckford - 7. A goal and looked pretty sharp on the whole, good effort. Subs; Peltier - 6. Not too bad. Marshall - 8. I think today was what we've been waiting for, exactly what the Sheff Weds fans said, positive, dangerous and a confidence player, the pressure was off him and he pulled out one of the goals of the season. I think he'll go on a real run now. Schlupp - 6. Battled hard and won us the ball in some crucial positions. He's growing on me, fast. Side note. Torres - 10.
Corky Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Seen the highlights and I rated Kasper a bit too highly in my markings. Looked very off-colour.
HitchinFox Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Schmeichel - 3 (should have come out to collect/punch/whatever the corner from which Cahill scored. Not the only goal today that he could have done much, much better with.) St Ledger - 5 (Not his position, still a quality CB) Bamba - 6 (flashes of brilliance shadowed by positional suicide. Maybe we should play him infront of the back four so we can rely less on him knowing who to mark and - crucially - which side of the fvking striker to stand). Morgan - 6 Konchesky - 7 (was given an order to attack and did so tirelessly. Always looking to be available when Kasper had the ball). Gallagher - 3 (Useless. Lets crowd put him off when taking a corner, then found going too tough and feigned an injury. Piss poor.) Wellens - 4 (lost the ball that lead to the corner from which Cahill scored) Danns - 8 Dyer - 6 Nugent - 7 Beckford - 7 For me, we need to get rid of Wellens and Gallagher. Wellens' first touch is awful under the slightest pressure, decision making is iffy at times and he most definitely lacks the vision to be a 1st choice central midfielder. Gallagher is too weak to play at the highest level. Both are fine for Championship football but simply not good enough if we want to go up next season.
filbertboy Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Schmeichel 5 - seen him play a lot better St. Ledger 4 - out of position and out of touch today Morgan 5 - too slow and is it me or is he over weight ? Bamba 1 - awful - too slow - and another one looking unfit and overweight Konchesky 5 - tried Gallagher 2 dreadful today Wellens 4 - looked out of place , too slow and way off the pace at times, perhaps this match showed him up a bit. Danns 9 - excellent- ran and hustled all day - deserved a goal when his hsot hit the post. Dyer 6 - tried Nugent 6 a much better second half Beckford 6 - again better second half . subs: Peltier 6 - was ok. Schlupp 3 - No real impact Marshall 7 - mainly for the best goal of the game.
Alf Bentley Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 I really can't believe the blanket negativity in this thread! What planet are you people living on?! Even with a few players rested, Chelsea had a team packed with internationals that would easily be good enough to finish top 8 in Premier - and that's a significantly higher standard than lower Premier, never mind Championship. Yes, some of our defending was substandard, but we played a lot of good football and caused them a lot of problems going forward. If our defending had been tighter, the outcome could have been very different - particularly as we had to chase the game against 3 forwards quicker than any we've faced at Championship level.. Ratings from the game: Schmeichel 7 Not at fault for ANY of the goals (just checked the videos in case I was going mad) St. Ledger 6.5 Skinned a few times...no, he's not a Premier League full back, but good interventions & distribution Bamba 4 Let Morgan down more than once, failing to chase back/close down Morgan 6.5 Some good interventions; exposed for pace at times Konchesky 7 Looked the part against good opposition Gallagher 4 Passing OK but corners unforgiveable; rightly subbed, tho' took a knock Danns 8.5 MoM Passing, drive, tackling, positioning all excellent - top effort Wellens 7 Helped play some good passing football against good opposition Dyer 6 Decent contribution, but not sure he believed in himself 100% Beckford 7.5 Sharp movement, team passing & attacking intent Nugent 7 Quiet first half but top effort 2nd half - great driving dribbles & interplay Peltier 6 OK Schlupp 6 One decent attack, otherwise didn't have much impact Marshall 7 Good teamplay & outstanding goal...I advised you to start him ahead of Gally, Nigel!!! Ref 8.5 Almost every decision right, allowed game to flow, no cards....much better, Prem refs, aren't they?! Ground 8 Liked Stamford Bridge much better than I expected, having last visited it 40 years ago!
acooling08 Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 From the game: Kasper and defence a mix of 4 and 5s. Poor display against quality side. Konch the exception, a 6. Gally - 2 - His usual poor display, but even worse today because his corners were awful too! Glad to see him off. Wellens & Dyer - 5 - Little impact. Danns - 8 - Energetic, made things happen, made tackles. MOTM. Nuge - 6 - Worked so hard and gave it 100% but the Chelsea defence were just too good. Beckford - 4 - Did nothing positive all game except score! Fans - 10 - WOAAHHHH!!!
kingfox Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 Just picking up on things, people giving St Ledger poor marks saying he was out of position. Against Birmingham though, he played very well at right-back and could easily be some people's man of the match on Tuesday. If Bamba played well, I would of happily kept him in and kept St Ledger at right back, but as Bamba played poor hopefully he will be dropped and St Ledger go back centre. But St Ledger especially Tuesday, showed he is more than capable to fill in at right back, he did well in parts today even but Mata is tough to mark by any team.

Ground 8 Liked Stamford Bridge much better than I expected, having last visited it 40 years ago! I second this, some of the low marks are crazy!!! Yes we defended poor at times, Bamba in particular had an off day but its Chelsea we played!!! They brought on a 25m pound centre midfielder 2nd half and people moaning about Wellens..... give him a break!! I thought the midfield did well considering, Dyer never stopped running and at least tried to make stuff happen, he beat their full back a few times including 1 great effort across the 6 yard box plus Danns was excellent and Nugent and Beckford worked tirelessly. If we'd of just managed to defend 2 simple set pieces better the game could of been a different story....
accessory Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 Schmeichel - 6. Not his best game, but folk are forgetting the numerous saves he made to keep the score down. Was badly let down by those in front of him. St Ledger - 5. Never a right-back and struggled against Chelsea's pace. Bamba - 4. Badly outclassed throughout. No coincidence that our defence has struggled since his return to the starting line-up. Morgan - 5. Another player who looked out of his depth. Konchesky - 5. Plenty of forward runs but little end product. Never comfortable against Sturridge in defence. Gallagher - 4. The liability many feared he would be. His delivery at setpieces was woeful yet again. Another who should never have started. Wellens - 5. Tried hard and never hid (so a step up from some of his previous displays) but lacked energy and quality to trouble the opposition. Danns - 8*. Best player by a distance, our best (often only) creative threat and tireless throughout. Also has potential to be a permanent captain. Dyer - 5. Largely peripheral, had some decent runs but produced no end product. Beckford - 5. Very disappointing. Took his goal well but it was too little, too late. Nugent - 5. Plenty of effort (unlike his strike partner) but made no headway against strong defence. Peltier - 6. Showed potential in his role as a defensive midfielder, though was less effective in his usual position. Schlupp - 5. Ineffective as a winger Marshall - 7. Intriguing cameo capped off with an excellent goal. Should have started.

Guest Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 Can't believe how badly so many of you are rating us after playing Chelsea - they aren't Doncaster you know? Schmeichel 7 - probably one of his worst performances for the city - not quite in position to save our blushes St. Ledger 6 Bamba 7.5 clearly the best defensive player we have Morgan 6.5 Konchesky 7 played well just doesn't have the pace for the elite anymore Gallagher 6 was okay apart from his corners Danns 8.5 MotM Wellens 6 por first half but came good in the second Dyer 7 dangerous but a shame he only has one foot Beckford 6.5 Nugent 7 Peltier 6 Schlupp 6.5 Marshall 6.5 nice goal Supporters 10000075

Guest Basildon Fox Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 How the hell can anybody realistically give any of the back 5 more than a 4? We let in FIVE goals and if Chelsea had not been so wasteful it would have been quite a few more!! Giving 6.5's and 7's is just laughable. All this we are proud bollocks. We were humilliated, certainly in defense against Chelsea Reserves.,

acooling08 Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 yeah chelsea reserves including cahill who is one of the hottest young players in the league and ivanovic who is a complete rock every match Thought we were criticising our defence not our forwards... The defence were terrible. We stood off them and never looked like closing them down on the edge of the box. And we conceded twice from players being completely unmarked for corners. 4's are generous for the defence imo.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 Did anyone see Cliff Ginetta's ratings in the Mercury? There's rose-tinted glasses and there's gibbering insanity. He should be sectioned.

To the folk who gave Kasper and Bamba 6-7's lol
