Len Finsbury Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 http://www.telegraph...on-defence.html Tony Pulis has avoided a driving ban, despite driving at over 90mph and taking him to 15 penalty points because "it would have caused him, the club and the people of Stoke considerable hardship" if he had been banned. He also couldn't use a chauffeur as he needs to keep his conversations private. So, not only does he drive at over 50% over the speed limit, he's also talking on the phone. I find the law... an ass.
NeilyBoy Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 The whole point of the points system is to give people a chance to learn from their mistakes. If he still wants to do 96 in a 60 zone when he's on 9 points already then he should bloody well suffer the consequences. Also; what's this bullsh!t about not being able to use a chauffeur for fear of leaked transfer info? Ever heard of a non-disclosure agreement Mr Magistrate? This country is just pure shit sometimes.

I see that as a reason to ban him.
Mack Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 Stoke might actually play football rather than just kicking lumps out of the opposition if he couldn't train the team.
MikeyT Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 I got caught doing 6mph over the speed limit and got 3 points and a £60 fine. I was doing 56.5mph in a 50 limit and normally the road is a 60mph, but they lowered the limit due to roadworks. How has Pulis not had his licence taken away is a fecking joke!!

Was that on the A607 Mikey?
MikeyT Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 Was that on the A607 Mikey? No mate, it was near Birmingham. I'd been a good son and taken my non driving, pensioner parents out for the day to a place in Shropshire, and got caught on the way back. They come of my licence the end of next month though thank God.
Unabomber Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 Should have banned him from wearing baseball caps that would have cut deep.

I just wondered because they had a temporary speed restriction on the Melton to Leicester road and I seemed to be the only one sticking to it when I drove on it a few weeks ago. I'm pretty paranoid about mobile cameras since I got my points!

The cheeky ones in the vans where they sit and try and catch you as well. The bastards!

The cheeky ones in the vans where they sit and try and catch you as well. The bastards! Yeah, Leicestershire police are terrible for it. They tend to park in places where the speed limit is much lower than you think and they know that everybody's over by a bit. For example: Welford Road in Wigston near the Stage Hotel (30) Alan Moss Road in Loughborough (30) The A50 in Markfield (40/50) Glenhills Boulevard (30) None of these are accident blackspots, mind!

You are allowed 10% for inaccuracies in your speedometer. So that makes you 1.5mph over the limit they can do you. I got done in the town centre near the Holiday Inn at 34 in a 30. Even the copper I had a moan about it to admitted that was just a money making exercise and nothing to do with safety.

Was there today at that very hotel doing some photos for a friend's seminar. There are speed camera signs near there though If i remember. I'll be there all day tomorrow doing photos as well. Fox92 Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 Joke. Every time. Other things that take the biscuit is when famous people don't bother turning up at court because they can afford to pay the fine, or whatever it is.

I got zapped at 79 in a 60, on the Oakham to Stamford road next to Rutland Water.

There needs to be some consistency- I got pulled doing 83 on the A50 (not something I'm proud of) and I was fearing the worst. However when I said I was running late for work (which I was) the copper just told me to "be more careful". I was massively grateful to him but I should def have been pinged.

Suppose it depends on the copper. Mine was an automatic send it in the post job, didn't get pulled over.
OzFox Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 If he was trying to get away from this bloke Trouserdog, then it's perfectly understandable http://oatcakefanzin...y&thread=188999
Mack Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 Suppose it depends on the copper. Mine was an automatic send it in the post job, didn't get pulled over. Mine was also, and they have made the tolerances on the cameras much lower so you only need to be a tiny bit over and you get shafted.
