MC Prussian Posted 31 May 2012 Posted 31 May 2012 I'm not participating, haven't done so for years. The joy of collecting Panini stickers has faded some ten, fifteen years ago. It's all become too expensive for my liking - and nowadays, Panini has come up with the genius plan to sell stickers for the trophies and whatnot. Instead, I've donated some money to a local artist over here who has created his very own football sticker album for the EURO 2012. I get the album with all 400 stickers plus a signed copy of a book of his. All of this for less than half of what a complete Panini album would cost me.
General Smuts Posted 1 June 2012 Posted 1 June 2012 I'd like to see that when it's done Alexei. Bang some pics up when you get it.
MC Prussian Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 I'd like to see that when it's done Alexei. Bang some pics up when you get it. Alright, Smutsmeister. The package got in on Thursday, had a chance to look at it today. Basically, the project is about a graphics artist who was looking to raise money through a Swiss crowdfunding website. His original aim was to raise 9'000 Swiss Francs (roughly £6'000) for his own, alternative EURO 2012 sticker album - a limited edition of 1'000 copies. In the end, he got as far as 10'600 Swiss Francs (£7'100). I donated 100 Swiss Francs (£67) and got one heck of a big package in return: The sticker album itself: The sticker collection: The sticker album comes with a book called Football Heroes Gold and it portrays the 150 most important figures from all past World Cups: Personal dedication included: And on top of that, the parcel came with two posters from a football comic convention in Lille - with all 2007 Lille OSC and RC Lens players portrayed. Like I said, I'd much rather support somebody who pours his whole soul into a drawing or into a comic strip than a company who's more and more ripping people off for the same services it has offered for decades. I really adore the effort the artist put into this, makes it all so... worthy. What does a complete Panini sticker album cost these days? £200 (without counting the duplicates)? If somebody's interested in getting his own copy of this sticker album, you can try and contact the artist via http://illustration.ch/.
Jordan Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 Alex, that's really good stuff. I remember seeing photos of the "Football Heroes" book when it was released and thought it was done cleverly--it's cool that he threw in a copy of that book for you. A similar concept was expressed in the "Got, got, got, need!" art series done by English artist Elliott Quince before the 2010 World Cup.
arsenalrob Posted 15 August 2012 Posted 15 August 2012 Does anyone play FWFOnline? Its better than stickers cos the cards you get you can then put in an online game
