'You're going down with the Euro'...

That's quite a good one.

Must admit it, that one made me laugh. lol

Harmless, witty banter. Looks as though England have discarded a lot of the brain donors who gave us a bad name of old.

Why is an Irish rebel song about a war "light hearted fun" but an English one "offensive, childish and tired"?

Because we won our one?

By the way, having Irish parentage and family, you should know that the Irish were involved in both WW, and thousands died for the same cause as the British, so when opening your gob have little knowledge to back it up.

Oh and Fields of Athenry isn't considered a Rebel Song - it's a folk song adopted by the football supporters.

Of course I know that, if I'd really wanted to be a c*nt I'd have opened my gob and mentioned how after the war Ireland opened up itself to look after Hitler's Henchmen, but we won't go there shall we? Or the Mussolini rescue? Or when the Butcher of the Balkans turned up in a Dublin suburb?

Bless them.

Right, so we are straying into that area are we? I won't go into the people of Mayo and their opinions on things. Let's just say that 'a big day out' means a trip to Westport. If you are inclined to believe that half of your Irish relatives are representative of ALL Irish, and making comments based on this, then you really are the one who's 'showing themselves up'.

I've never said the Irish government or people of Ireland haven't made mistakes, yet somehow your aggressive response to a bunch of lads singing harmless songs, really has got to you. And the 'usual Irish' racism towards you really bothers you.

I can arrange therapy sessions with you if you truly need them. ;)

I'm sorry but all this'It's all in good fun' is just untrue.

They went out of their way to get into a position near the England team's arrival to boo and shout crap at them.

That's not casual banter in passing, that is pre meditated bitterness from small minded people.

I hope they all catch crabs from Polish brasses.

More chance of catching something from one of the local priests.

A genuine question.

If England fans '

went out of their way to get into a position near the Germany team's arrival to boo and shout crap at them,' would you see it as a disgusting racist attack or purely harmless banter?

Don't say we wouldn't do it either, because we all know that if the Germans were based in Krakow hundreds of England fans would make a beeline for their hotel. It's not just us either, the Germans would do the same to the Dutch and vice versa.

The Irish clearly see us as rivals, partly because of political history like the Scots and Welsh, but partly because we're the closest major footballing power to them. We don't see it as a rivalry, but the Irish do. I daresay the way some of our fans behaved back in 1995 when we visited Dublin for a 'friendly' didn't exactly endear England to them either.

First off I'd consider them a group of sad bastards if they were in a magnificent European city with loads of great birds and beautiful woman and decided to spend their afternoon shouting at a bus load of footballers who were turning up to a hotel. No wonder footballers egos are inflated when people turn up for this.

Whether it was racist would obviously come down to what was being shouted.

And yet what the Irish sung/shouted was definitely racist...100%? You're pretty certain on that.

Not at all, it was a casual observation based on the video I saw.

Everyone makes accusations all the time these days about things that are not "definately 100% racist" - I was doing no different.

Ah casual racism. Alls forgiven.

No problem.

Just me who thinks that's quite light-hearted and well-spirited then?

Hardly like the locals turned up to lob bananas at Danny Welbeck is it?

I'm with you.

..as am I. The England fans seem to join in and I dare say both sets of fans are sharing a free exchange of opinions over a local beverage or two as we speak.

Not quite sure where the story is myself.

Non story and non event.

The website that the story has been taken from by yahoo specialises at irreverent articles on sport.

It's a non-story, yet the reactions by certain posters, you'd think the Irish lads singing, were fooking blow-ups dolls of the Queen whilst wiping their arses on the English flag. If it helps uphold their stereotypical viewpoint I'm keen on knowing who I should avoid because they're a cvnt. Knowledge is power.

I'd see it as pretty small-time, and the second part depends on what is shouted.

I was in Canada recently and some Irish dude heard my Leics accent in a bar and started on about how the Queen is a coont and he hoped she dies.

Whilst no massive monarchist myself, I felt it was just plain rude to try to insult someone you don't know, so I told him that it was 2012, not 1975, and if Gerry Adams and Ian Paisley can have a cuppa together, and England's rugby team can play at Croke park, he was dwelling a bit too much on the past.

His reaction?

"800 years of opression and dat's the best you can up wit'..."

I give up...

If we play Ireland at some stage and they repeat these chants should our players walk off the pitch?

I take it he was one of us embittered northerners....
