Every time Evans or Nibali has attacked so far, Wiggins has simply sat back and reeled them in at his own pace. Whose to say he woudn't do that if Froome were to attack? Also the Tour de France is a team sport, Froome should be happy to be part of a Sky team that is going to (hopefully) win the yellow jersey. He's young enough to have a few cracks at the Tour over the next decade.

However, Schlek tested positive for a "specified substance" and these are classed as lesser offences and there may be an innocent explanation as to how the substance ended up in his system, although we'll obviously have to wait and see.

Well, i guess the definition of "actually watch" is open, I have turned it on a number of times, been enthralled by the lovely French villages and towns, enjoyed the vacant stare of cows as the traffic jam of riders whizzes past and been amazingly impressed by the ability of two blokes to talk for 2-3 hours about nothing... but i generally have drifted off to sleep or turned over before the finish. The tour through my eyes... 8.30 - about 100 highly visible lycra clad people begin peddling 9.30 - about 95 highly visible lycra clad people are still peddling, just slightly behind 5 highly visible lycra clad people who are peddling a little faster. 9.55 - pretty church is peddled past by highly visible lycra clad people 10.05 - cows watch highly visible lycra clad people peddle past 10.30 - two men who ave managed to talk about not very much for 2 hours suddenly begin shouting because 2 or 3 highly visible lycra clad people are actually peddling fast and actually appear to be in a race of some kind. 10.30 and 40 seconds, race is over, man who won this particular bit of race is actually in 73rd position, but nice lycra clad people smile on stage in a bright yellow shirt. But thats just my view of it
Super_horns Posted 18 July 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 Good performance Wiggins to pull in Nibali after he tried to break away a couple of times. As for taking drugs...cyclists are tested much more than sports people in other sports so makes you wonder why they take the risk.

Take Gasquet for example - http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/tennis/news/story?id=4329491 It is possible for substances to enter an athlete through no fault of their own. Plus, doping is a strict liability offence and no matter how tiny or insignificant amount is in the system a positive test will come back, even though the amount may have absolutely no effect on their performance. I think it'll be a case of wait and see with Schlek. I'm sure the amount found and prevailing circumstances will come to light soon enough.

Definetly don't think he was fit today i've been following him for a long time and could tell he wasn't 100% today. Voekler is a gun, so many times he looks shot then he kicks again. Another well deserved win. Also Jens Voight what a star he is at 40 to be doing so well.

Got to admit that made me laugh I forst got into the tour 2-3 years ago, before I had the same opinion but it really is the most fantastic event to watch when you get into it, the stamina and endurance is like no other sport and you have got to be a genuinely brilliant athlete to win it.
