Foxes Player Live Commentary iPhone Workaround?

Recommended Posts

It's ridiculous that the club / whoever is in charge of the Football League website players hasn't bothered to do this yet. Surely it should be high in demand?

Unfortunately, I don't know how to :(.

The iPhone does not (and never will) have flash, so no. There is no solution. In the long term it is a good thing that flash is disappearing, but in the short term clubs like ours that outsource their IT operation to whoever gives them the lowest quote won't realise that they are pissing off the very segment of their fanbase that "live streaming over the internet" is supposed to appeal to (i.e those who are tech savvy and on the move).

If you are desperate, there are a couple of workarounds I can tell you about, but they all involve having a PC on the same wireless network. I'm guessing if you had one of those, you wouldn't be trying to listen on your iPhone. Personally I use android devices for this reason. Yes, flash support is being phased out there too - but if I want it there is nothing stopping me from installing it manually. Player works fine in my browser.

This might actually be one area that the club would listen to a fan petition on, actually. Might be an idea to get in touch with them and point out how many subscriptions it is costing them.

Last week while FoxesPlayer was streaming the Torquay match I was figuring out a work around. Hopefully, I should have cracked it by Saturday.

Are you trying to extract the media resource URL? If so, good luck.

I suggested Puffiin to someone with an iPad once but he seemed to think it didn't work for him when using player. It has some pretty mixed reviews in the app store, but if it works great.

If it has flash then there is a way around it. I managed to get the commentary on my Galaxy S2 for the Torquay match and this is how I did it.

Go onto foxes player on the website and touch sign in. You should hopefully be able to see a blue line that says Accessable Version on the furthest left. Touch that and it will take you to a basic menu system. From there you should then be able to sign in properly and save your details to log on everytime.

You should then be able to choose the live match option and from there it should then play which ever commentary you choose. Hope this makes sense.

I agree with Basingstoke Fox completely. I am often 'out and about' during match times (my wife and 2 demanding kids dictate as such!!) and I would love to have access to commentary on my mobile phone. I emailed the club and webmaster last season and was just told "Sorry, it is not available".

I have recently had an email telling me the subscription fee is going up and listed the so called improvements to Foxes Player, is "Mobile Commentary" on the list of improvements? Is it heck as like.

Come on City, listen to what the fans want.

on my ipad i have tunein radio app which allows me to listen to radio leicester at no cost :) I think that is the work around you need. As for the interviews and stuff puffin web browser worked for me before i cancelled my subscription.

Are league matches not blocked from these kind of things though? I'm sure they are.

I'll try Zaphod Beeblebrox's technique this Saturday. If anyone else comes up with anything please post in this thread.

Puffin browser works perfect on my iPhone :)

Never has on my iPad. There is one that works. Iswifter but that needs wifi and not over 3G as of yet.

Tune in radio works fine til a few minutes before kickoff. League cup was fine as not under licence. League games are a different matter

I had a workaround working last year, however I was a bit concerned i'd get the book thrown at me when 500 people jumped on the stream. It didnt get taken down but i thought it was only a matter of time before i caught with that many people listening.
