Guest bss9401 Posted 21 August 2012 Posted 21 August 2012 Alan Smith--true quality and world class. And he only cost us 15 grand. Great memories of him and Lineker as our front two.
ian the fox Posted 21 August 2012 Posted 21 August 2012 Difficult remembering who had the no.9 shirt but I used to enjoy watching Mike Newell. Just a shame he wasn't playing in a better Leicester team very true , he was a very mobile sriker , shame he couldnt gel with the Jimmy Quinn , at the time
Ross-Kemp Posted 21 August 2012 Posted 21 August 2012 Don't forget Dion Dublin! That volley he scored, Rotherham away, was immense. One of the best goals I've ever seen live. Never forget his header against Charlton either. I remember that, absolute peach of a strike !
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 21 August 2012 Posted 21 August 2012 The problem here is that most people are not really answering the question, but merely putting in those players they have seen play. Arthur Rowley was just before my time, but statistics speak for themselves, even though he only wore the number nine shirt a few times only. The best I have personally seen were, Derek (The Doog) Dougan, Ken Leek, and Frank (Cowboy) Worthington.
Legend fox Posted 21 August 2012 Posted 21 August 2012 i will get slated for this but Stan Collymore was epic until O'Neil left taylor in Collymore went crap but those few games alongside Heskey he was Epic so short term Collymore longterm Frank Worthington hands down but for stikers who went on i can remeber G Liniker think he was alright.
cc_star Posted 21 August 2012 Posted 21 August 2012 Wortho, Birch surely? That I've seen... Walshie for that playoff game, Marshall & Speedie got a real soft spot for David Lowe, although best ever is stretching it.
Raw Dykes Posted 21 August 2012 Posted 21 August 2012 i will get slated for this but Stan Collymore was epic until O'Neil left taylor in Collymore went crap but those few games alongside Heskey he was Epic so short term Collymore longterm Frank Worthington hands down but for stikers who went on i can remeber G Liniker think he was alright. I think Collymore wore the number 8 shirt.
Guest Col city fan Posted 21 August 2012 Posted 21 August 2012 Did Lee Marshall wear the number 9 shirt? Or Akinbadbyi? They'd get my vote.. Or Coatsworth...
Filbert The Fox Posted 21 August 2012 Posted 21 August 2012 Of the players i've seen down Filbo St. or KP. Frank Worthington,Gary Lineker,Alan Smith. My dad & Grandad say Derek Duggan & Arthur Rowley to go with above 3. Frank Worthington was Pure Class. No 1.
5waller5 Posted 21 August 2012 Posted 21 August 2012 Ferdinand. Then Dublin. Surely it means playing as a number 9 and not literally the number on the shirt, otherwise I think that counts out sir les!
