Guest MattP Posted 17 September 2012 Posted 17 September 2012 49ers looking the business this season....
Jordan Posted 19 September 2012 Posted 19 September 2012 Ok, I cracked. I watched the NFL this weekend, but I must say, the standard of officiating is terrible. 49ers looking the business this season.... They do... It seems like it is impossible to run the ball against them.

I've never seen anything like it, they called interference on a tipped pass that fortunately was challenged and overturned, it was taking them 3-4 minutes on some plays to see where to spot the ball. It was ridiculous, it's bad enough having to stay up until 5am here to finish games let along 6.15am because of imcompetent officials. They need to sort tehe situation out quickly, even bringing in some NCAA refs on overtime would be a better shout.

We all went out to an Irish bar after going to a funeral on Monday (only way to mourn, really) and I had to keep reminding myself every time they made a stupid call (or every time Peyton threw a wild interception, too) that no, I'm that that drunk--this was really happening. The refs in the Giants-Carolina game on Thursday did a decent job, if you're willing to cut them slack for calling an absolutely ridiculous personal foul on Prince Amukamura for nothing against Steve Smith but letting a little fight between six players near the sideline go unpunished. The league and the refs union are still miles apart, so expect this nonsense for at least two more weeks. Speaking of Giants-Panthers, Big Blue pretty much had a circle jerk on the 50-yard line at Bank of America Stadium on Thursday night. WR Hakeem Nicks, RB Ahmad Bradshaw, LT David Diehl and CB Corey Webster were all out, yet the Giants completely destroyed Corrupt Cam Newton and the Panthers, 36 to 7. Thirty-six to seven. Oh, and the Giants rolled off the first 23 points of the game. I would like to send my regards to the panel of "experts" on the NFL Network's own pre-game show, ALL of whom picked the Panthers to win moments before kickoff. Thanks for the analysis, boys! Keep up the good work!
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 25 September 2012 Posted 25 September 2012 Geez these refs really are attroshious, that was definetly not a touchdown.
syston_fox Posted 25 September 2012 Posted 25 September 2012 Absolute farce last night. We were robbed of that win and there's no other way about it. Watched it live and the commentators were as stunned about the call as everyone else was. At the end of the day that play shouldn't have even happened. On the drive to get them to the red zone there was the interception called back for "roughing the passer" which was a bad call and the defensive PI against Shields when the seahawks player climbed on his back to get the ball was even worse but put them in great field position. Then there was THAT play which was clearly an interception. I know I'm a Packers fan but it was clearly Jenning's ball and even so, how did they miss the pass interference by Tate when he shoved Shields over with two hands to even get close to the ball in the first place? There were some crap calls throughout the night (both earlier touchdowns had questionable calls during the drive) but the ending just proved once and for all that the replacement referees are no good!! Only good thing to come from this is that a new contract should be on the table to the real refs before week 4 if the commissioner has any sense. Also some quality quotes from the players on twitter last night. Refreshing that they could be honest and say what they liked: TJ Lang - Got ****ed by the refs. Embarassing. Thanks NFL! - **** it NFL. Fine me and use the money to pay the regular refs. Jermichael Finley - Come on NFL. This s*it is getting out of control. Cost us a damn game. Horrible - NFL Cheap ass hell! Get us some NFL refs! Not pee wee league refs.
Guest MattP Posted 25 September 2012 Posted 25 September 2012 This weekend really was the last straw. A pick given as a game winning touchdown and a wide field goal that won a match. Pay the refs,
Jordan Posted 25 September 2012 Posted 25 September 2012 This is a damned disgrace. The players and coaches have complained, the players union has written a sternly-worded letter to the league, and the fans have done their "Bullshit!" chants... But direct action needs to be taken to support the refs. This cannot stand any longer.
Guesty Posted 25 September 2012 Posted 25 September 2012 As a Seahawks fan I'm glad we won, but we robbed them. I'd be livid if the shoe was on the other foot. Pass interference was more obvious than the interception. If I were the Packers I wouldn't have come out for the extra point.
accessory Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 Apparently the NFL switchboards were jammed yesterday, No great surprise - the scab officials have proved to be way out of their depth, and not just in Seattle. Even the governor of Wisconsin, a notorious union-buster, has called for a settlement of the dispute.
Guest MattP Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 Didn't know you were an NFL fan. Whose your team?
Jordan Posted 27 September 2012 Posted 27 September 2012 The NFL has lifted the lockout today after a deal was reached with the NFLRA on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (which is expected to be ratified on Saturday by the union). It appears that the refs were able to get the league to soften on a few issues it had taken the hard line on, particularly in regards to retirement benefits. The real refs start work tonight.

Jordan Posted 29 September 2012 Posted 29 September 2012 The refs got a standing ovation when they ran onto the field before Thursday night's Ravens-Browns game
Fox in the North Posted 29 September 2012 Posted 29 September 2012 You know they could probably make awful calls and get away with it for now, just because they're the 'proper' refs haha

I've just got a bit of information on the refs in this game from last week, it seems that the refs involved have received death threats over the bad call This is from a seahawks fan.
Fox in the North Posted 30 September 2012 Posted 30 September 2012 Jets got shot down In other news, Carolina@Atlanta what a game!!
Jordan Posted 1 October 2012 Posted 1 October 2012 Sigh. There ya go, MTWG... I was at a bar with no sound, and I actually started celebrating that Tynes kick because I thought it went through, and I didn't realize he fell short until I saw a replay. Nice rebound for the Iggles after last week. Michael Vick is still a scumbag, though.
Fox in the North Posted 2 October 2012 Posted 2 October 2012 lol I swear it's worse than following Leicester sometimes :'( they don't even have a proper QB I'd rather just have tebow in there instead of Sanchez
Jordan Posted 2 October 2012 Posted 2 October 2012 I swear it's worse than following Leicester sometimes :'( they don't even have a proper QB I'd rather just have tebow in there instead of Sanchez Tebow is garbage. "Tebow Time" last year was all down to the Broncos" D and special teams. Tebow has such a terrible throwing motion. I don't think Sanchez is a particularly good QB, but I feel bad for him--signing Tebow effectively threw Sanchez under the bus. I honestly think the only reason the Jets signed Tebow was as a ploy to sell more season tickets and "personal seat licenses." If Rex does turn to Tebow and the Jets go on a tear, I'll eat my hat.

I know I know but getting only 145 yards between them.. . He probably is haha well theres always this I suppose.... Meanwhile wouldn't you agree that Brandon Lloyd is a little happy about his catch? Ridiculously photogenic wide receiver, I think so!

As a Denver fan who watched all those games Tebow time wasn't really due to our D at all. We were garbage against the run last year and got abused in our nickel package. Our D couldn't really do anything well other than pressure the QB and we didn't even do that too well after Von Miller had his cast on. Quite a few of those wins were pretty high scoring games like in Miami and against Minnesota. The low scoring games were all more about playing terrible offenses like the Bears, Chiefs and Jets who couldn't put up points against anyone than our Defense. There were some incredible special teams plays that helped but our offense did find an identity and improved with Tebow taking snaps. Really the position that the Jets are in now they have to find a way of getting things going. They are thin on quality receivers and Keller is injured too so the passing game is extremely limited as it is. They can't try to rely on the run game as it is now because Shon Greene isn't a good enough back. Running the ball with Tebow at quarterback would at least allow them to run some clock so their defense isn't as exposed. Don't feel sorry for Sanchez at all...he just isn't good enough to be a starting QB in this league.
