Bayfox Posted 21 September 2012 Posted 21 September 2012 Talking about his time at Leicester and how he has found it hard to cope with live after professional football. Also confirmed what most of us knew, his knees were knackered when we signed him and medical staff advised O'neill that he may only play for 6 months, but MON wanted him and did the deal anyway.

Eadie used to have a well good chant. What was it? Oh yeah I remember:- EADEH, EADEH, EADEH
Ozwin Posted 21 September 2012 Posted 21 September 2012 Man this is depressing. Players taking pills, contemplating suicide and actually having ropes round their necks. Jesus.
Guest Posted 21 September 2012 Posted 21 September 2012 He did a long interview on the same subject with Stephen Nolan on 5 live a few weeks back
fox in the sox Posted 22 September 2012 Posted 22 September 2012 There is the same problem in other sports particularly cricket. Players tend to retire between 30-40 and there is nothing to replace the buzz of playing and being part of a team. Not all players can go into jobs connected to the sport such as coaching or commentating. I don't know what advice players get during their careers but it seems that more needs to be done.

Enjoy the good life while you have it, but always prepare for when it ends, because one day it will.
Corky Posted 22 September 2012 Posted 22 September 2012 Eadie was a different case though, as his career finished far earlier than most players.
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 22 September 2012 Posted 22 September 2012 I imagine the perspective's difficult to find when these guys have had that lifestyle on the cards since their mid-teens. It's difficult to get in to the mindset of somebody like that. It's all about relativity. I'll be delighted if I win £100 today. I'd be less delighted in two weeks time when payday's struck and the money means less to me.
theessexfox Posted 22 September 2012 Posted 22 September 2012 A goal of his on A Question Of Sport as well
