Gérard Depardieu - Tax dodger

Recommended Posts

There seems to be no limits to what Mr Depardieu will say or do to avoid paying tax in his home country of France.

Not satisfied with trying to avoid the new tax band by moving to Belgium, his has now gone to Russia, met with Putin and been handed a Russian passport.

What a true French patriot this Mr Bum nose is.

This is what the left never realise, instead of collecting 40%(or whatever the rate was) of Mr Depardieu's millions they are now collecting 75% of fvck all. People in France who are just below the higher rate tax band won't invest/work harder as they will be worse off by earning more.

High tax regimes are more about envy than raising income.

He could always downsize from a mansion to shared housing to save a bit of money.

Why would he want to?

Haven't they scrapped the 75% tax rate now? Like they scrapped the 35hr working week or whatever it was. Some of our lefties could benefit from seeing how much of a monumental failure those policies have been in the real world.

The bloke deserves a round of applause. The arrogance of the French socialist government knows no bounds. They think they operate in a vacuum and they are learning otherwise.

This is true.

As I mentioned in another thread...the solution is a universal tax system. No tax havens. Nowhere to run.

Of course it'll never happen (too many selfinterested people with too much money and political clout) but hey, it's nice to dream.

Who votes for the govt that decides that rate? Why should I pay higher taxes because France wants to waste their money on things that are of no interest to me?

I don't think you understand the situation here, nor do you realise how much Depardieu is going to lose in French eyes. The French loved him, he'll be shocked at the situation that now arises. Greedy overweight bastid.

I'm sure he'll be crying all the way to the bank.

But he is a businessman and not a member of the lower class so it's OK for him to avoid paying taxes so he can live a life that he is accustomed to. Not being a pleb has its advantages.

I never said the idea was realistic. I just said it would be nice. :P

But if humanity does eventually get over the idea of arbitrary borders and the nation-state (which I think would take a GLOBAL crisis) and realise that we're actually all just human, then it might be something to consider.

Just like Starbucks in England.

And being black, a woman, gay, smelly etc.... won't matter either.

He don't look very healthy to me , I'd be surprised if he lived much longer and won't have time to spend the dosh he's saving .

He's a tip folks , get him on your deathlist 2013

He has paid hundreds of millions in tax, only to be slated by people who take out more than they put in. No wonder he is pissed off.

Hundreds of millions?

What are you drinking?

Posted

€145m in tax to be precise.

So you're using euros and a number that Depardieu claims to have paid since the age of 14 and that's still not hundreds is it?

But some are more human than others.

(In the opinion of anyone from the right)

What's that supposed to mean?

France made their bed in the EU and Euro and now need to find a way to pay for it.

Apart from this donk and a few others who would far rather give their money to a ruskie dictator.

He even said Russia is a "Great democracy".

Of course it is bum nose, they are saving you a fortune via their dodgy passport office.
