MooseBreath Posted 10 January 2013 Posted 10 January 2013 Had a horrible experience with a new NHS dentist a few months back. She wore one of those masks which covered her mouth and nose. From her eyes alone she looked late 20s and quite attractive, so I laid on some moose charm and had her giggling a bit. All looked quite promising until at the end she removed the mask and turned out to be a hideous looking rodent-faced munter of about 40. I felt incredibly misled and couldn't get out of there quick enough.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 10 January 2013 Posted 10 January 2013 That wasn't minor surgery. He assured me it was a standard procedure. Even had his wife in to watch. She's also a GP APPARENTLY. They'll tell you anything
Parafox Posted 10 January 2013 Posted 10 January 2013 My GP is a bloody good doctor. Not only thatshe is gorgeous!
Daggers Posted 10 January 2013 Posted 10 January 2013 Are they all incompetent? No. If yours is then you are at liberty to move to another doctor.
Charl91 Posted 10 January 2013 Author Posted 10 January 2013 No. If yours is then you are at liberty to move to another doctor. I am in the process of doing just that. Doesn't mean I can't complain about it though.
BoneDog Posted 10 January 2013 Posted 10 January 2013 Not been to one since about 2004 so don't know. And that visit was my first for about five or six years so only been once in 15 years. That's gotta be some kind of a record.
Webbo Posted 10 January 2013 Posted 10 January 2013 Not been to one since about 2004 so don't know. And that visit was my first for about five or six years so only been once in 15 years. That's gotta be some kind of a record. Not even a record for this thread; I signed on at Syston Health centre 10 years ago but I've never actually seen a GP there. I don't think I've seen a doctor because I was ill for 15-20 years.
mrsizzett Posted 12 January 2013 Posted 12 January 2013 Doctors Receptionists do have an extremely difficult job to do......... the reason they ask whats is wrong is not to annoy you, not to entertain the waiting room either but to help you !!! if you stood there and said im having chest pains/ trouble breathing, you will jump the queue and be seen there and then !! if you said i think i have chest infection/ tonsilitis you will probably get appt later on that day, if you said i want a letter to claim housing benefit / have a spot on my nose, yes you may wait a few days. so it is for your benefit that you say why , otherwise it will be seen as non urgent and you will have to wait. Yes i do work in a medical practice and can honestly say that it has opened my eyes to some people, i have been verbally abused, swore at, threatened to be reported for asking a patient politely to repeat what time her appointment was at !!!!???? am amazed at how many people put requests in for medication, that they may not have had for 10 years but have decided themselves thats what they want, then them asking for a prescription for paracetemol that costs 24p from Boots but doesnt want to see a Dr for them !!! we are open 8am-8pm so cant be accused of not catering for workers, but to some people this is still not long enough, we have even offered people an appointment in an hour but they wont wait and would rather wait 3 hrs in a&e???!!! all you have to remember is that you are not contracted to stay with your surgery, you can join any practice that you like if you live in their catchment area !!

Lots of places I've been to only have 9 - 5 opening times though. Annoyingly, I have to take another day off work just for the practice that I just registered for, just so the Nurse can take my height and weight before they register me I could have just given it to them there and then!! Undoubtably I'll then have to book another day off work the week after.

Probably don't trust the locals to be able to give their height and weight

Brenfox Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 I married a doctors receptionist & agree with all the negative points made on here
