Bob Weasel Fox Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 Did Richard III go to York to garner support before his battle with Henry Tudor? No he did not, he went where he felt his support was strongest...Leicester. :appl:
Deep Purple Posted 13 March 2013 Author Posted 13 March 2013 This thread is ****ing hilarious Nearly as funny as Yorks pathetic attempts to take OUR king
Parafox Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 He's not really from there though is he? For the record (yawn) Richard III was a YorKIST. He wasn't FROM York. He supported the family of the House of York in the Wars of the Roses against the House of Lancaster who were supported by Henry Tudor. The Battle of Bosworth was one such engagement in a series of battles between the Yorkists and the Lancastrians. Ultimately the Lancastrians defeated the Yorkists and the two Houses reconciled and became the one, the Tudors. Richard III's support base was Leicester and Northampton. He visited both places but was more associated with Leicester. He was not Richard the Lionheart. Thing's I remember from school all those years ago. !!

flowwolf Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 Can't believe there is a tug of war over the bones of a well known child murderer , his own nephews as well. Will it be the same when Ian Brady dies ?

The Year Of The Fox Posted 14 March 2013 Posted 14 March 2013 Love this last paragraph More than 25,000 people have signed a petition to support re-interring his remains in York Minster and York's MPs have urged a rethink. But in February, the cathedral said it would not become involved in the argument and commended the King to "Leicester's care." The current Dean of York, the Very Reverend Vivienne Faull, was previously Dean of Leicester.
Deep Purple Posted 14 March 2013 Author Posted 14 March 2013 Those sad losers in york called for a meeting between Sir Peter Soulsby and City of York Council's to talk about alternative arrangements for the skeleton. But our mayor told them to 'Piss off' - well something like that http://www.thisislei...l#axzz2NJhv30Rv The current Dean of York, the Very Reverend Vivienne Faull, was previously Dean of Leicester. She tried to teach them in york about why it is right for Richard to be buried here in Leicester, but those those ignorant savages just sent her abusive letters !
MikeyT Posted 14 March 2013 Posted 14 March 2013 Apparently the current Richard exhibition is a bit... well... sh1t I can concur. I went and had a wander. All the stuff there is pretty much stuff we already knew.

Deep Purple Posted 17 March 2013 Author Posted 17 March 2013 Oops yes sorry I meant Gloucester. Gloucester, York and a few other places want him
Zingari Posted 17 March 2013 Posted 17 March 2013 Oops yes sorry I meant Gloucester. Gloucester, York and a few other places want him Being about half way between the two should give us another advantage .
FoxesAreBlue Posted 17 March 2013 Posted 17 March 2013 Let's just share him out, we found him so we get first dibs - I say we get the head. York can have an arm, Gloucester a leg and anybody else can bid on the rest. Bang him on eBay. Cash on collection to avoid the fees!
Deep Purple Posted 26 March 2013 Author Posted 26 March 2013 Some in York don't seemed to have learnt anything http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2013/mar/26/richard-iii-relatives-legal-challenge?fb=native&commentpage=2
