Red Nose Day

Recommended Posts

Just seen John Bishop on Red Nose Day on BBC1 regarding domestic violence, child abuse, poverty etc etc in THIS country. How very true and how very deserving of our time and money. I have seen and been involved with a lot more than most but still not as much as some. Thoughts please?

Let's face it, the only reason Jessie J really shaved her head is because she finally realised that hairdos that look like wigs are shit.

"Donations are kept by Comic Relief and then distributed, in the form of grants, to a list of charities not finalized until months after the event.

War on Want, for example, is a leading British charity that has received just under £1.5 million of Comic Relief’s funds. It has also obtained just under half a million pounds from the European Commission and about £160,000 from the British Government.

The charity has been criticized by many individuals and organisations, including British cabinet minister Teresa Villiers MP as well as the watchdog group NGO Monitor, which issued a report that concluded:

War on Want is an extremely politicised NGO which actively promotes the Durban Strategy and uses anti-Semitic themes to attack Israel. Given WoW’s extensive political campaigning and lobbying efforts, its one-sided approach to the conflict that ignores Palestinian terrorism"

"Comic Relief entrusts another charity, the Community Foundation Network, to distribute the smaller grants.

In 2012, just under £10,000 was given to the Muslim Women’s Association of Edinburgh [MWAE], an Islamist group that has supported the jihadist Syed Talha Ahsan, who was extradited to the USA in 2012 on charges of providing material support to the Taliban and the Chechen Mujahideen."

"Comic Relief has also given £4,500 to Worthing Islamic Social and Welfare Society, a local community organization whose website promotes the works of Abul Ala Maududi, founder of the violent Bangladeshi Islamist group Jamaat-e-Islami. The Society also promotes publications of the Muslim Education Trust, including a pamphlet written by Ibrahim Hewitt, entitled What Does Islam Say?, which advocates the death penalty for apostates and adulterers and demands that homosexuals suffer “severe punishments†for their “great sin.â€

Maybe I'm being a bit thick but why do these African women have so many children when they know they have HIV/AIDS?

Many reasons - Crazy religious ***** telling them they can't use protection & lack of safe abortion methods available being rather major reasons. Ill people need to have a shag too.

Careful man, he'll reply to you with a single smiley face. Nothing can prepare you for the torment of being disregarded with such ice cool indifference.

At least I have a reason to. sometimes although it is a waste of time and effort with a couple. The majority can at least put forward constructive replies even if I do disagree with one or two.

Not from what I've seen you don't, anyone that dare question the beggars on corners you get your knickers into a twist.

Also you moan about having no money or no job but I've seen you post several times where you've turned a job down or said you don't want to work, you're going to wait until the summer.

I dare say you're like an older version of lamby, but at least he makes me chuckle from time to time.

It is the homeless critics that I question. I am not keen on beggars. Homeless can mean sofa-surfing and in a hostel. I work with people who have at one time been homeless and they are decent people. I do not moan about money, it is that some think I am living a life of luxury on £71pw and anyone that is unemployed is likewise.

I have learnt to budget accordingly. I have to respond to those accusations. Maybe I shouldn't respond and let those ignorant of the true facts get to me.

I have not turned any job down. I think the one you refer to was one the job centre printed off and because of my physical situation I thought that it would be unsuitable

. I now apply for anything but rarely get a reply let alone an interview. With around 50 going after each job I have little chance at my age of getting a full time job at my age as I would have to be re-trained. If you was an employer would you take someone on who was 61 and spend time re-training them?

I have taken a part time job but still applying for work. At some point there may be more hours available. I enjoy it and it is something that I can do. Also I qualify for pension credits in JUly. I have paid tax and NI all my life with no break from work apart from the last 18 Months so I will apply for that rather than be on JSA meaning that I can still look for work but on my terms.

61 and unable to use paragraphs, tragic.

See that's your problem, "no-one will employ me for blah blah blah." That attitude stinks, there is no motivation for you to find employment and I bet if your cv/personality reflects that.

If I was employing, (I have previous in recruitment) I have offered people that are 55+ on plenty of occasions due to their determination, work ethic and there desire to work.

You've worked and paid tax all your life ? Well done, I'm proud of you Ken, however this I'm afraid entitles you to nothing.

Stop moaning about homeless pe
