A little early but the OS has some information on it :D

Young Guns On Show At Rushden

New signing Peter Gilbert will make his Leicester City debut in the friendly clash against Rushden & Diamonds on Wednesday evening (7:45pm).

The 21-year-old, who joined the Foxes from Plymouth on Monday, has been named in a young City squad to take on the League Two side at their Nene Park home.

Gilbert will travel to the game with the likes of Richard Stearman, Alan Sheehan, Tommy Wright and Chris O'Grady as boss Craig Levein uses his side's penultimate pre-season match to run the rule over some of his younger players.

Levein said: "We are going to play a lot of the younger lads at Rushden now because the game against Inter took an awful lot out of us. It will be a young squad, but there will also be a few first team players involved as well."

Fans have been impressed with City's high tempo approach to matches during the pre-season game, and it will be no different against Rushden.

He added: "We will be playing with that style every game now because it is the way we are going to start the season. That will be the same at all levels all the way through the club."

Tickets for the game are priced at £10 for adults, £7 concessions and £2 for accompanied under 16s.

City squad: LOGAN, GILBERT, STEARMAN, WRIGHT, CANERO, SHEEHAN, O'GRADY, DODDS, PORTER, GRAHAM, SMEDLEY, LYCETT, FRANKLIN, MUGGLETON, NORVALL, WYKES, CISAK.

Certainly interested in James Graham. As a one time 20-a-season made before injury I could say to him: "If ever there's a time to make an impact at City its now."

Half time report from the OS.

HALF TIME: Leicester boss Craig Levein gave new signing Peter Gilbert his debut on the night as City fielded a young side for their second game in the space of three days.

Alan Sheehan and Richard Stearman were handed the centre-half roles, allowing Jay Smedley and Gilbert to take up the full-back positions.

City's first real effort of the game came in the 17th minute. Sheehan struck a 20-yard free-kick goalwards with power, but an outstretched boot in the Rushden wall made the block.

A fine save from Conrad Logan prevented the home side from taking the lead in the 24th minute. The pacey Moses Ashikodi was through on goal, but the Irishman spread himself well to make the save.

Ashikodi thought he had put the Diamonds ahead three minutes later, but his effort from 12-yards was ruled out for handball.

Rushden took the lead in the 40th minute of the contest. Greg Pearson's shot from the edge of the area was deflected into the path of dangerman Ashikodi who made no mistake from close range.

Gary Lineker started on the Right Wing.;)

Is Ashikodi good enough for us? Understand he used to play for Millwall but got himself in a bit of bovver. Sounds a bloody sight more dangerous than any of our lads were and we know there's no-one in the first team who's particularly dangerous.

If he can keep his knifing activities to carving the Sunday roast,;) then he might be worth a go.

If he wasn't dangerous on the pitch we'd know he'd be pretty lethal in the kitchen. :D:D:D

Rushden 2-0 Leicester City

A youthful Leicester City line up fell 2-0 to Rushden & Diamonds at Nene Park on Wednesday evening.

Craig Levein gave new signing Peter Gilbert his debut on the night - for what was the Foxes' second game in the space of three days.

But the Welsh under 21's debut will be short lived after he limped out of the contest in the 57th minute.

David Bell almost doubled the Diamonds' advantage a minute into the second half. The tricky midfielder cut through the Leicester defence, but his shot from the edge of the area struck the base of the post and fell to safety.

City came close to drawing level with 48 minutes on the clock. Chris O'Grady did well down the left, but Louis Dodds was just beaten to the near post and Rushden cleared.

New man Gilbert was replaced on the 57th minute after the man worryingly went down after a heavy challenge.

Rushden made it 2-0 in the 58th minute. The industrious Bell, who had been a real thorn in the side of the young visitor throughout the game, blasted a free-kick from 20-yards through the City wall and past the helpless Logan.

Tommy Wright nearly got one back for Leicester in the closing stages, but his 25-yard effort drifted just over the bar.

O'Grady also came close in the last minute, but his shot from close range was well saved by Jamie Young.

City now travel Oxford on Saturday to play their final pre-season fixture of the campaign.

City: Logan, Smedley, Gilbert (Muggleton 57), Stearman ©, Sheehan, Wykes (Franklin 76), Graham, Wright, O'Grady, Dodds, Porter.

Subs: Lycett, Pentley, Norvall.

Rushden: Young, Gier © (Dempster 46), Hawkins, Kelly, Allen, Gulliver (Grainger 46), Ashikodi, Pearson (Woodman 46), Chillingworth (Tomlin 76), Bell, Burgess (Kennedy 32).

Subs: Jackson, Okuonghae.

Just got back from the game, not much to say really.

Dull game, logan made some good saves, ashikodi's goal was a tap in from a logan save.

The second goal was a free kick.

Stearman and sheehan looked solid, only tommy wright and o grady dared to shoot. O'Grady did ok good skills and footwork.

We looked better in the last 10 minutes creating some chances and had one cleared off the line.

I didn't think he looked that good tonight his only shot was that open goal from 3 yards out he scored, he didn't create much and couldn't get by the defence.
