FoxesAreBlue Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 my symptoms have been similar to yours when you explained to babs.Without showing you or knowing exactly what's wrong I'm afraid it might not help, but the exercise that helped me were. Go on all fours . Arch your back up,like a scolded cat would, while inhaling. On the exhale do the exact opposite arch the other way squeezing your tummy muscles(as if) and as if your trying to stop a piss mid flow.( this is not exactly how the pros tell it) sort of thrusting Next. Hand on hip other arm over head, bent, pointing over to the side with your hand on hip. Slowly VERY SLOWLY lean to the side with your hand on hip as far as you can, again on the exhale.Swap sides This one was good, but at the start I was getting the" electric shock" spasm Hope they work, because there is not much worse. The good doctor here has prescribed some good core exercises which will help to strengthen the muscles in your back and some deep core muscles in your sides which will probably help. Another one you could do to help your lower back is to get in the 'plank' position and raise up one leg at a time for 3 seconds each, 10 times each leg. To break it down if your not sure what I mean: 1) Get in a press up position but instead of your hands get on your elbows instead, only your toes and elbows (we and forearms) should be touching the floor) 2) Don't let your hips sag towards the floor! Kep your body in a straight line (a mirror might help) 3) Lift one leg up into the air as far as you can (will only be a few inches) and hold for 3 sec and return to the floor 4) Do the same on the opposite leg 5) repeat 10 times Take a break and repeat it 3 times HOWEVER!!!!!! Obviously none of us really know what is wrong so if it hurts or spasms then stop IMMEDIATELY. Really you should seek advice from a physio first, this just might help in the short term. Basically what I am saying is that if you choose to follow to advice on FT then you do so at your own risk! Won't get me in court!!
Zingari Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 You all spend too much time sat on your arses in front of a pc instead of getting out there and doing some real work that involves lifting and bending

FoxesAreBlue Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 thats no way to talk about your customers ! - it's easy for me to come on here and rant about the small minority of bad customers that we and every business has - I suppose in the interests of balance and indeed fairness I should say that the VAST majority of people who I speak to, on a daily basis are actually very pleasant. I often feel bad because I am terrible at remembering names, I even went for months calling one of my PT clients the wrong name and he was too embarrassed to correct me! It was only when he paid me via bank transfer that I spotted my mistake! One very surreal aspect of my job (and I may have mentioned this before) is that when I go out into town, either Flyering for work or out in my own time without my gym kit on then I often get recognised, a lot of city centre employees use the gym and so recognise me out of my usual setting. But for me I have absolutely no idea who they are! Even worse though is when I see somebody, think I recognise them and say hello, only to receive a blank stare back as they wonder who this nutter is saying hi to everyone! Obviously not a member! Another slight perk I realised is that a lot of the bounces in town train at the gym too so when I went out for my birthday weekend a few weeks ago me and my mates didn't pay to get in anywhere - which was as much a surprise to me as it was my mates - felt like the bloody don though just walking into the club! Right, I'm rambling, time for bed!
BoneDog Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 Shit, I've been doing so much reading and listening about the Boston stuff that I read this title as backpacks.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 I'm surprised they havent got you doing pilates. Broke my back in 2 places about 8 years ago now. Get a pain like toothache sometimes. Stretching it out on a regular basis helps. Also when really bad I will lie on my back on the floor, take a deep breath, exhale and push down with both hands quite firmly towards the problem area at the same time. Can feel it go back into place and the relief is fantastic. Also get an orthpaedic mattress for your bed.
ozleicester Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 I've had a bad back on and off since about 2006. It seems to flair up every so often, for no obvious reason? This time round I've had it for 7 weeks and its been so bad I've had to miss City games.. This morning, I woke up in fookin agony and can't walk any more than a few steps. I've been down the LRI and sent home with yet more bloody painkillers. I've tried chiropracty, the gym, cycling, hot and cold pressure but to no avail this time. Does anyone else suffer from a bad back and have any advice cos I'm at a loss to be honest. This weeks game is also out.. I literally can't sit for any more than a minute or two. Not good.. One word and one word only could change your life.. it did mine.... CHIROPRACTOR! Changed me from a hunched, stumbling, pain sufferering grumpy fvck... to a... Hunched, stumbling, mostly pain free grumpy fvck. In all seriousness, they are life savers and life changers, cannot recommend good ones enough
