To be fair, he has made an outstanding start to his managerial career, lets fact it he was vital to palace getting promoted despite holloway trying to mess it up, and looks to be doing good at bolton, where i can see beckford being a great buy for them, even though i don't rate him. Seems to be able to get players on his side and doing what he asks always, seems like a man who will soon be in the premier league.

When he left Palace they were 4th, the Bolton finished 9, Palace had only played 12 games, they were 6 points clear of Bolton. At Bolton dispite a very talented squad he failed to make the playoffs. His total points for the year were 74 for both clubs, this would have left him 5th in the table, so not the best managerial record in the league. Like I said I think he has potential but you have to win something before you can be regarded as a top manager. Redknapp Adkins Davies Powell Pearson Zola Coyle Have all either won something, or made the championship play offs, until Dougie does that I do not think you can say he is a better manager.

Seemed to turn Palace around, and got them to the semi finals of the League Cup (even won at Old Trafford if anyone remembers). Then he made Palace a great team and near enough built the team up for Holloway. They were one of, if not the best, team to play us at home last season. He seems to have a good eye for a player as well, and I rekon Bolton will challenge for automatic promotion this season.

Big test next year though, it's one thing managing Palace or taking Bolton up the league with no pressure on you. The real test comes when your side is under pressure and you are expected to go up, they only had two games last season where real pressure was on and they bottled them both.

Good thing of course to do but it will be interesting if would still do one if they were sat in 14th at Xmas next year. Easy to do things like that when 100% are behind you. Pearson would get so much abuse from people hiding behind their keyboards I wouldn't blame him not to.
Manwell Pablo Posted 9 July 2013 Posted 9 July 2013 I think they're going up this season I have to say, and will have a better chance of remaining there than Palace who I think will at best will manage one year before suffering from second season syndrome.
