Public opinion and the politics of immigration

This is exactly why we need some voluntary tax system in place where you only benefit from what you put in.

If the captain wants to fund Spanish potholes then charge him for it, he can be taxed at 80% and the rest of us who have no interest in doing so can be taxed at normal rates from what see as essential like schools, hospitals etc

Of course it works both ways as well as he can use the freedom of movement to his benefit.

All this seems to be doing at the minute is benefiting the rich from each country whatever it is

I'm surprised you see that last point as a bad thing.

:D

This is why we need to increase Polish immigration, tough, hard working, good looking and generally right wing in their views.

Maybe it's a Tory masterplan in the same way Labour laid out the red carpet for the third world.

But if you opt of paying into the EU, you will not be able to use them, you will be stuck with shoddy British plumbers.

The EU is going to continue to and try and do what its want to do, and the that is create a European Socialist Super state.  They want all powers of tax and spend, and I'm sure a lot of the Eurocrats are happy about the crises in Spain and Greece, becuase it proves their point, which is that you cannot have the EU without have central government, becuase local government have to be accountable for their spending, and the Angela Merkel struggles to convince Germans to bail everyone out.

The EU doesn't think it has done anything wrong, except not move fast enough towards its goals.

Maybe we should elect MEPs that actually turn up and influence voting, rather than the UKIPs, and Cameron should try and affect change from within rather than alienating us from our powerful allies and neighbours.

Not at all, I am fully behind anyone who wants to work hard for living whether rich or poor and I won't support a lot of them being forced into the welfare state because some well off people are quite happy to see standards decline to try and bring Romania up to the level of the UK.

A more sickening aspect of socialism it's harder to find.

That's fine, you know plumbing did actually get done before we joined the EU.

When we send more UKIP MEP's than any other party next year they'll be exerting some influence.

A lot of the reasons UKIP have abstained despite being in Brussels is because the agreements made are often not worth the paper they are written on.

A government report from Denmark showing the benefits of a sensible immigration policy and why you should be getting your immigrants from strong Western nations..

http://www.spiegel.de/international/europe/putting-a-price-on-foreigners-strict-immigration-laws-save-denmark-billions-a-759716.html

came to the conclusion that by tightening immigration laws, Denmark has saved €6.7 billion ($10 billion) over the last 10 years, money which otherwise would supposedly have been spent on social benefits or housing. According to the figures, migrants from non-Western countries who did manage to come to Denmark have cost the state €2.3 billion, while those from the West have actually contributed €295 million to government coffers.

The last line makes me weep, why here I wonder?

Some immigrants have already turned their back on Denmark voluntarily. Increasing numbers of Somalis are moving away, especially to the UK, the Jyllands Posten reported on Thursday, because of discrimination.

From your posts it's actually a tad difficult to tell if this is sarcasm.
