Uncle Albert Posted 17 October 2013 Posted 17 October 2013 I've been thinking about going to Milan for a long weekend to go and watch AC Milan and to visit the San Siro, just to say I've been really and I have always liked AC Milan because of their status and their fantastic history of success and the players who have played for them. I've only ever been to one game outside of England and that was to watch PSV a fair few years back vs AZ Alkmaar, must be 6 years ago or so. Absolutely loved it. I know a lot of the old school FoxesTalk lads have been around Germany watching teams, basically just a thread for people to talk about their experiences all around the world watching the beautiful game. I really want to go and watch an MLS game as well, I know it's not a great standard but the stadiums etc are fantastic.
purpleronnie Posted 17 October 2013 Posted 17 October 2013 Games abroad don't interest me anymore. If I had to pick one it would have to be some history fuelled violent derby match like olympic v paok.
Dan Posted 17 October 2013 Posted 17 October 2013 I'll be adding to the list of people who have visited Germany for football when I go to Frankfurt in November. I'd also like to see AC Milan and I'd be interested in visiting Spain, Holland, France, Italy, Turkey and south America too.
Guest MattP Posted 17 October 2013 Posted 17 October 2013 Done a few in Germany, always great as the people are fantastic and you can stand and drink beer during the game. Malaga a few times on Hols was good but that was when they were shite. Melbourne Heart 3 years ago, not the best. One of the best was actually Los Angeles v Chivas, stood with the Angel City Brigade, very noisy, a few flares and a tense atmosphere. Boca V River at Bombanera is on my bucket list.

It's a right ball ache to get tickets. I had to give her some of my ID when she was over here so she could then use it to buy tickets for her, myself, and her boyfriend. Then we had to queue and show ID when picking up the ticket. If you go to a match that isn't so popular then you can probably just buy tickets a day or two before but they're proper hot on ID.
bovril Posted 17 October 2013 Posted 17 October 2013 Dinamo vs Hajduk is bloody brilliant. The best one I saw was in 07 when Eduardo scored three, all set up by Modric. I'd highly recommend it, especially in Split as the stadium is beautiful and the city is great.
Ross-Kemp Posted 17 October 2013 Posted 17 October 2013 I'd love to do Lazio v Roma and Boca v River.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 17 October 2013 Posted 17 October 2013 Boca V River at Bombanera is on my bucket list. The Bombanera for any kind of Boca game is something I want to experience in my lifetime, even though "my team" there is Velez.
AmericanScott Posted 17 October 2013 Posted 17 October 2013 Been to see Getafe v Mallorca a couple of seasons ago when i visited Madrid. Worst atmosphere and stadium i've ever experienced. The funny part was ordering the tickets through an official Getafe website with the assumption we'd sit with the home support only to find out the idiots had placed us in the away end with all 20 travelling Mallorca fans. Mallorca won 3-1. Day later, decided to go check out the club shop at Rayo Vallecano and get a scarf or whatever. Saw a queue wrapped around the stadium for the visit of Barca that evening. Impulse kicked in and we queued up for about 3 hours to get tickets (€70 each). Best atmosphere ever and worth every penny! Despite Rayo losing 7-0 to a very good Barca side, the fans were all jumping around and singing until the full time whistle. Really want to go back! Well worth a visit! Tour and museum was about €12. Only downside was how crap of a neighbourhood it is in and the metro station is a good 30-45 minute walk.

That's your first problem! If you are going to a game go see Melbourne Victory for some decent atmosphere. Been to see Barca play which was great, also recently went to a NY red bulls match which wasn't too bad but there isn't much of a crowd and all the atmosphere was on one side behind the goals.......meeting Tim Cahill after the match for a beer and a chat was a positive tho.
