sylofox Posted 17 November 2013 Posted 17 November 2013 Paul Cooper was an okay keeper but was he better than Flowers, Walker, Kasper? The bigger you are the more of the goal you fill up. The taller you are the longer your reach. Flowers was a better keeper but is easy equal to Walker and Kasper. And Miles ahead of spider rab and that italian we had
Jimmy Posted 17 November 2013 Posted 17 November 2013 Do goalkeepers lose some agility as they get taller? yes as they can't get to the lower shots as quick, keepers, especially with the way the laws protect them now days only need to be around 6ft, lets not forget they can reach higher anyway as they can use their hands which is another foot and a half to two feet in reach. they just can't be skinny so that when they come through a crowd anyone who gets in their way will just get knocked out of the way
Oxfordfox83 Posted 18 November 2013 Posted 18 November 2013 Just in relation to England, Welbeck is the worst first choice striker I've ever seen us have. Nothing particular against him, he clearly tries, he's just got Michael Owen's creativity meshed with Gary Neville's finishing... I really hope Sturridge has dispossessed him for good.

CountesthorpeFox Posted 18 November 2013 Posted 18 November 2013 He played 8 games for Turkey in four years. He was great for us but lets not get ahead of ourselves. Having said that I agree with the jist of the thread in that players shouldn't just be picked on reputati

The taller you are the longer your reach. Kevin Poole was slightly shorter too, but could get wherever he needed to be. It's not a prerequisite but it helps. He even faced competition from Gavin Ward and Carl Muggleton and was seen to be the better keeper.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 18 November 2013 Posted 18 November 2013 Do goalkeepers lose some agility as they get taller? Peter Shilton would know the answer. I'm sure like me you remember the story of his dad dangling him over the bannisters, when he was young, to make him taller?
