Please stop slagging off Lloyd Dyer on the radio

I maintain that Sven's most potty managerial decision was dropping the only player in the team with any pace.

Nice one...

At present, Lloyd needs a game or two out. I tell you why.. The opposition have learnt, like they did last season, how to play him.

He rapid, but not very skillfull. When doubled up on, he rarely has the tricks and flicks to beat two men and then go.....

A change IS needed I think. Pearson needs to change it up a bit and not to become too predictable.

There's some sense in some of the posts here, but if you're maintaining that teams will keep doubling up, then surely that's a good thing? Surely it ought to mean Knocky and the strikers have more space? If he's taking two men out of the game, then he's not ineffective.

I'm not pleading that he's undroppable, but you can't drop a man because they've 'sussed us' by putting two men on him. If Dyer needs to be doubled up on then why isn't Knockaert creating more?

Most importantly, if you're the Ipswich right back, who would you rather see on the team sheet?

Dyer hasn't been that involved for 5 games now, I'd play him Saturday as konch is out but he may need to be dropped soon.

That doesn't mean I'm slagging him it means we are rotating the team which makes sense when you have depth in the squad. Mahrez was bought for the PL, I'd like to see him get a few matches under his belt T this level before being thrown in at the deep end.

Why do some posters on here take thing so personally on behalf of the players?

They are professionals I'm sure they don't expect to play every game.

He drove into the box a great pace and scored a cracker away at Brum?

We should keep in mind substitution strategy, which has been a real strength of Pearson this campaign.  If Lloyd's sat on the bench, wouldn't it be a good option to sub him in and let his pace cause them problems in latter part of the game, if needed?

It's not as hard of a decision as some people are making it out to be. Mahrez has played well when coming on for the last 15 minutes in a game; and Dyer has been ineffective for the last few games. Also it shouldn't matter what the state of the pitch is like as it shouldn't really matter with a professional anyway, no matter the conditions they should all be able to play + i'm sure Pearson would have dropped him if he knew Dyer wasn't going to be his normal self on these dodgy pitches. He should be dropped and Mahrez should be given his chance to shine, if Mahrez does well then great, start him again, if he doesn't then obviously he's missed his little chance and will just have to wait again for the next opportunity. Football is all about the form of the player especially with Dyer as if he's not in form then he is very close to useless (harsh but true).

I think Dyer is a good player but he really isn't effective at all without his confidence and form, therefore Mahrez should have his chance.

Of course it does, it can affect professionals more as they aren't used to poor surfaces.

Exactly what I think. Dyer would cause havoc coming on as a sub. The defenders would be like "tehe phew this vardy guy is ever so quick and I'm ever so tired" then bam, Dyer on the pitch with his 1000 mph running

I think the previous few games indicate why?

Bit obvious that one Oxford...

pfft it really isn't an excuse for the money they are on. He's played in conditions like this for years aswell so it really isn't an excuse

and i like dyer the same as anyone it's just i think it's time considering his form that mahrez should be atleast given a proper chance, although i'm confident it'll come soon.

This started as soon as we signed Mahrez. People are too impatient to see him play so get frustrated with the player they think he will replace because of this. The great thing about being in the position we are in is that we are under no pressure to change the team and we shouldn't do, wait and we will see Mahrez get his chance soon enough but we have the luxury of allowing him to get a feel for the club and English game before throwing him in. Change for change sake can very easily upset the apple cart, we are doing well so get behind the lads and see us home rather than picking on players for no other reason than being desperate to see the new lad. Also bear in mind there is a very strong belief and moral in the team at the moment which is allowing us to get these results when struggling and that's allowing the team to dig deep and force the result our way.
