veezeeblue Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Sitting here in Brazil eagerly awaiting our promotion and the world cup, I decided to learn Jerusalem proper so I can sing with the other England fans here in June. Then I liked it so much I decided to write a Leicester City version to see if it works. What do you think ? http://pic.twitter.com/UciSAdxTaA
yorkie1999 Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 That's very good, except I'd change the line to and was Leicester City builded here.
veezeeblue Posted 12 March 2014 Author Posted 12 March 2014 could be ... in the end if the fans sing it they will change it to suit thanks for the suggestion, I figure that the names of some of the players will be interchangeable
The Year Of The Fox Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 I've never known England fans to sing Jerusalem at the football? Get learning Rule Britannia though

I'm sorry but unless your mates were public school boys from Berkshire, at Welford Road to watch Wasps playing away, then that's horseshit.

Weren't my mate. He was a manager where i used to work in the 80's and it wasn't till he died that someone else i knew told me that story.

Sounds a bit like Chinese whispers mate and someone spinning you a line. The commonly accepted story in regards Swing Low is that it was started at Twickenham in the late eighties after Chris Oti's debut try/tries.
truebluethroughandthrough Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 I've never known England fans to sing Jerusalem at the football? Get learning Rule Britannia though Nigel Pearson, When Nigel leads the the team, Then failure never never shall be seen..........
tomtom Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Yes . Initials were pc[/quote Then your story could possibly be true, I'm a family friend , and his eldest son is one of my closet friends!....

No one's spinning him a line, the person he's on about was very well known in those rugby circles.... he also attended all the England games so was possibly involved
Guest MattP Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 England cricket sing Jerusalem, never heard the footy fans sing it.
veezeeblue Posted 12 March 2014 Author Posted 12 March 2014 Fact that you never hear Jerusalem in football , that´s why we should start and before the world cup when it will make it´s mark ! Check this out: http://www.england-supporters.com/?viewCont=world-cup-2014-england-songs LCFC need an anthem whether it´s this version or another I think we could come up with something, Let´s make it our own before someone else does.

True. You never hear Miley Cyrus' 'Wrecking Ball' either. Doesn't mean it's a good idea. It's a 'no' from me. Although, I did like the line "Bring me my spear: O Vardy!" That's got some potential.

Check this out: http://www.england-supporters.com/?viewCont=world-cup-2014-england-songs Often England fans near me struggle with the right words to God Save the Queen so I think we're going to have a job getting them to belt out something written by William Blake. It's a beautiful song though and it's a shame that we have never taken it on, would be my choice as a National Anthem.
veezeeblue Posted 12 March 2014 Author Posted 12 March 2014 Thanks for the comments, I think the Vardy line is the best too, maybe we can just use part of the second verse ... Bring me my Spear - Oh Vardy Bring me my Midfield on Fire And We have built Leicester In Pearson´s green and pleasant land. anyway check with your mates to see if they can learn a line or two ... you never know ?!? whos coming to brazil in June - I will be happy to meet up with any travelling fans for a pint or two - and a verse or two of Jerusalem of course ;-) never give up !
dmayne7 Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Fair play for trying but I don't songs like that have much potential when they just focus on a selection of current players. Marginalises the others and all it takes is one player to leave and screw it all up!
Fox Ulike Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Yeah maybe you should try making it into more of a story, rather than a name check of the players... Maybe the story of this season? Here's a possible opening couplet for you: And did Vardy, at Lofus Road Walk through Redknapp's defence with ease This stuff is GOLD. And i'm giving it to you for NOWT..

He came in like a wrecking ball He never hit so hard before All he wanted was to break your balls All he ever does yeah Wesley Yeah, you, you Wesley

Marginalises the others and all it takes is one player to leave and screw it all up! agreed but we could changes some of the players names depending on the game / team selection - although this season it was a preety much fixed starting 11 - think of it as a tribute to 2014 promotion - let´s give it a try
