Should Andre Marriner be banned?

Do you blame Marriner for not trusting him though with the amount of blatant lies and bending of the rules players produce every game? For all he knew it could've been Chamberlain doing it tactically.

I can see what people are getting at but I don't blame him for not trusting a player's word. The majority are cheats.

The biggest farce is how not a single official saw who was sent off.

I don't blame Marriner for not reversing his decision on Ox's word alone, but I do blame the FA for not giving refs the option of checking that they haven't made an error.

It's a red card every single time, no argument whatsoever. It was travelling towards and very close to the goal and if the ref thinks that he may have stopped it going in then he should send him off which is what he did.

No letter of the law it clearly isn't, if it's not on target it's not a red card, which it wasn't. So it's a yellow for deliberate hand ball.

I'll freely admit if Marriner was to see that he'd have to have Jedi like eyesight and I can't blame him for producing the red, sending the wrong player off however is an unforgivable error for a professional referee to make.

Yeah, I know that's the law but how is he supposed to know? If he deems it to be going in then that's all that matters. Clearly he thought it was or at least was likely to.

This sort of attitude riles me.

When a player makes a mistake it rarely if ever leads to a 3 game ban. Normally it's because a player has done something dangerous.

I said when a player has ****ed up, not made a mistake.

When a player does something very bad ala the equivalent of Mariner's mistake he gets a ban, and so should referees in my opinion rather than just been sent out to pasture in the Football League for a couple of weeks.

To be honest, the fact neither the ref or linesman could see which player it was is embarrassing.

There is no player equivalent of what Marriner has done, players get banned mainly for dangerous play and hurting an opposition player.

They are rarely banned for a genuine mistake.
