Union FS Statement following Yeovil at home

Overcrowding? Is this a wind up or what? If you think SK1 is overcrowded you're very inexperienced football fans.

You asked for feedback...

In terms of not being able to go where you want, lots of lads have season tickets but freely move around anywhere from L block right round to the west stand. Its simple just walk round the concourse go where you want and stand at the back. Against Yeovil I couldn't be arsed with atmos so sat behind the goal, there only seemed to be the usual few singers in the back few rows. The players can't hear you, L/K blocks can't hear you and the away fans certainly can't, so what's the point? Why not just join the blocks that already sing through the match?

No offence intended but these groups come and go all the time, I give you 6 months at best. Worryingly the younger groups are becoming more and more left wing these days. I remember the BRF, inflatibles gangs, FRU, Halfpints which were all young lads starting something up. All right wing and all sang old school Leicester chants. Then we end up with the leftie Fosse Boys singing children's songs and waving their scarves about. I fear your group is closer to the Fosse Boys category.

Why not just sing some of the great older songs we have? They tick all the boxes, unique to Leicester etc. I saw some of the lads from Zoonies were up in that corner, they'll teach you them. If you were to revive old songs at least you'd have some more appeal about you, L blocks song choice has become dangerously generic recently.

Only one of you is a season ticket holder, says it all. Close your group now and save yourselves the embarrassment. Come and make an atmosphere in the already established areas where away fans can actually hear you.

Bizarre thing to say given politics has been mentioned at no point, and never will be.

Also one of the stated aims of the group is to revive the traditional songs that seem to be becoming lost on the younger generation. You yourself say you can't be arsed with atmosphere too. Laughable that you would criticise those who can in that case no?

Snooty - You say Union FS and Foxes Boys are left wing - then say come sing in established areas (I assume you mean L1 and IF you actually go to the football go there).

I'd say its because the Foxes Boys and their left wing woah woah youtube rip off chants failed in SK1 that they went to L1 and thats why it is so bad now.

Contradicting yourself all over

That made me cringe.

What the hell has politics got to do with it? Football is an equaliser of all. The one place that anyone can go with one common denominator.

It is a good point about the seperation though and one which I didnt understand with the Fosse Boys and cant understand again with this group.

It isnt that much more to go to L/K, certainly not enough that it would price you out of going and the organic growth of an area will just happen. Get seats at the back and as it grows further, you'll just take over another block.

Whilst I think its bullshit Snooty Fox talking about the politics, everything else he said I kind of agree with. How can this group ever be a success if only one of the organisers has a season ticket?

I understand that logistically you cant all make it because if where you live, but the only way this will ever stand a chance of working is if the core people are there consistanty to drive it and force the momentum.

I'm all for the improvement of atmosphere and I salute you for trying and wish you all the luck that it succeeds, but to me, this looks destined to fail.

Depends what you mean by failure,if we only get the amount we had for Charlton I'd be happy

Kitch, I'll leave someone else to answer your questions, but which one are you? Are you the short, longish haired lad who wore the green retro shirt by any chance?

I was right in front of him. Hugged him when we scored actually, so I must have been near you mate

L1HT - IF you actually go to the games then what were you doing posting on here at 8.17am when everyone was on their 3rd or 4th beer?

Granted some of the Fosse/Foxes Boys chants have made their way into L block and made our support that bit more embarrassing. Granted that's because of the older lads becoming apathetic and disillusioned with the footy as its got shitter over the years so they're dropping out and being replaced by a younger, more middle class county style supporter. Of course we don't want those sorts in our main end, let me clarify my point.

If you want to be left wing, wave your scarf around singing woooahh woooahh and bring your small kids stick to SK1 and create an FNF style atmosphere in there where noone will notice you. But if these 'Filbo Spirit' lads want to reignite some of the older better songs and make Filbert Way at least slightly intimidating for away fans to come to then do it in L/K blocks.

People making excuses about not affording it or it being full make me laugh too, just walk round!

Not just the quantity, but the quality for the Charlton game. Top support by about 100 of us. Will you be at the QPR game mate?

But isnt K and L season ticket? We cant make many home games - too far and frankly shit atmosphere - so we used to go in j3. Not any more, we'll be helping the lads in sk1 from now on. And yes, we were there for the first game (Charlton)

steveherbe - I suppose it depends on what kind of atmosphere you're looking for, whether you attend games with women and kids, whether you want to chant at away fans or amongst yourselves, etc. Theres nothing wrong with having a smaller more family oriented section in SK1 that sing a few songs its harmless enough.

But if you want to chant near away fans don't get so hung up about your allocated tickets. Do you sit in your allocated seat at away games? In standing areas where there is space just move into it.

Mate, I was a hooligan fan back in the 60s 70s, hinckley mob lad. I still want to support my team vocally. Ive brought my son up to support the city, even though he has no association with leicester. Miraculously, ive even managed to get my non football wife to support us, she was there in sk1 for the charlton game. so, I attend games with women and kids, and as far sitting at away games, you must be joking! Despite being in my early 60s, I stand, and sing my heart out for the lads. In my opinion, and I may be wrong, the movement in sk1 is a bloody good move. I dont give a toss about away fans, done that, been there, got the t shirt. Just want to get a great atmosphere in the kp, like we used to have at filbert street. End of the day, I just want max volume at the kp, whether I'm there or not. And next year in the premier league, it will be even more vital that we the fans roar the lads on.

Fair play, take your point. If you're now only interested in generating noise, not fussed about away fans and bringing the mrs then SK1 may well be the place to go. If that's the purpose of the group then fair enough. And hopefully Jobber will take his drum over there too, it would probably be a more logical place for him to go.

I just don't understand these members of a group named after generating the Filbert Street atmosphere, who claim they want to sing the old stuff, why don't they just join in with the 300 or so that already stand and sing. Trying to go off on your own and start your own little group with 8 lads seems counter productive and pointless. If you've been going since the 60s you will have experienced numerous breakaway groups starting up that are forgotten a few months later.

All I can say is that as an ex-sK2 member of "singing" fans of the 1980s  I fully support the idea of getting SK singing again wherever in the the Kop that may be, If I lived in the UK I would go there and join you. Please ignore people on here who just try to antagonize and get on with your mission to organize the group. Great initiative and I wish you the best of luck.

Financial year end mate.

How will FS union self manage an area, when its a public area?  You told the club you'll know everyone - but thats impossible.  I wouldn't put out statements like this because it makes you responsible for strangers behaviours - theres nothing you can do about strangers.

If you start willingly taking responsibility, then when some dick heads come you'll have no choice but to disband.

If you dont take responsibility for that area of the ground which is open to the public and some dick heads come then club can't have a problem with FS union

Its the equivalent of Krystals taking responsibility for the street outside - don't do it!

The Fosse boys have infiltrated L1 and made it shit? lol lol what are you on?? The Fosse boys never sang We Love You. In fact they sang 'we don't carry razors' 'tip toe through the trent end' 'Bertie Mee' 'I see the Doug' 'tired and weary' ALOT more than L1 ever has.

Waving your scarf around your head makes you left wing? Again, what the **** are you on???

Your posts are laughable.

FNF? God help any small child who stands next to me in the Filbo Spirit section next season when we score a last minute winner at home to Chelsea, or for any goal for that matter!

And the fact that you think we should just walk round to L1 makes me think that you've never actually been in there?

I stand halfway down L block right of stairs as you walk up. There's 8 of you, its an area where people stand, whenever old lads come back for a game or two they come up and stand with us. If you want to do your own thing then just admit it but don't pretend you can't simply walk round.

I look forward to seeing you going mental in SK1 when we beat Chelsea next season, I'm sure it will be amazing. Let's just hope its one of the earlier fixtures because Union FS will have disbanded by Christmas.

8 core members, with a further 60 (SIXTY) who have since joined them. Not sure how you think 60+ lads will just waltz into L1, past the ticket check in the concourse, at the bottom of the stand and half way up too, then occupy 60 seats?

Please read up on Union FS before passing judgement.

There are only ticket checks at one gangway, and they are half hearted. Just go up the next stairs along.

And if these lot had been following us before we made the premiership (only 1 of the 8 a current season ticket holder) they would've easily got a season ticket in L. Priority goes to the more loyal supporters, but they can still get a permanent seat in K or J3.

Sorry mate, I'll do a Marty McFly and see if I can my parents to knock me out a few years before they actually did eh? Hardly my fault my first game was in 1994 at the age of five is it?  lol

I'd have supported Leicester if we'd been playing in Europe or the Conference when I was that age. It's how I was brought up.

Loyal supporters??

You have no idea mate, I know the lads organising this personally, and over the last 10 years I would hazard a guess that at least 6 of them have been to over 50 grounds in this country supporting Leicester.

The 7 that don't have season tickets have ALL had season tickets in the last 10 years since the Prem at some stage, some up until this season.

I personally was in L1 from 2005 to 2010 (Kop before that) and stopped going because I moved away from Leicester and my 'match day experience' of standing in silence for 70 minutes every Saturday wasn't worth travelling back for. The lads who have organised this have given me something worth travelling back for, and I would be getting a season ticket next season regardless of what league we were in and I know the guys organising this would as well.

It's pretty obvious to anyone that knows the main guys in this that the actual game on the pitch comes second to having fun in the stands. Which in my opinion is what going to the football with your mates on a Saturday should be all about.

Totally agree. We decided we wouldnt do home games this season as atmosphere is so crap. But, whenfilbo spirit started up we had to be there for the charlton game. Now we have tickets for qpr as well, cos home games are fun again - at lasrt.
