Union FS Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 So, Tuesday wasn't quite what we had expected from the lads on the pitch (it happens sometimes) but we weren't at our best off it either. Union FS have made the following statement regarding Tuesday's events in SK1. If you were in the block on Tuesday, please do get in touch or post here what you thought the major issues were and how you think we could improve. Thank you Union FS Tuesday was a fairly sobering night for all Leicester City fans, save for the last few minutes and the heroics of our goalkeeper. Nevertheless we remain in a fantastic position with a huge game at Burnley on Saturday. Win and we’re almost there. Off the pitch, Tuesday wasn’t much better. For whatever reason we were fairly flat – this will improve, of that we have no doubt. What we must re-iterate, however, is that whilst we appreciate the support everyone is lending to us and our proposed area of SK1, we must ensure that no-one without a ticket in the area migrates there on the night without relocating or purchasing a ticket in the correct area first. Against both Blackpool and Yeovil this has caused overcrowding with fans spilling out into the aisle. The success of the block depends on the group being responsible and respecting the fact that the safety and security of us fans is paramount to Leicester City Football Club. So, please could we ask you to do two things going forward: 1) Please continue to join us in SK1, but make sure that you either take the time to relocate your season ticket (we can help you with this) or buy your ticket in the correct area – preferably between Row FF and PP, seats 17 to 29. Should you have any questions here, please contact Union FS at [email protected] 2) Please remember that the stewards do want to let us get on with supporting the team and the easier we make their lives, the easier we will make ours. Make every effort to clear the aisles and remind those around you to do so too. We believe that completing these two tasks will have a positive effect on the atmosphere – allowing us to concentrate on giving everything to support the team and not spending time proving that you do have a ticket in the block. Thank you for your continued support, Union FS
howlinmadmurfdoc Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Sounded to me like you were singing songs hardly anyone knew.
Leicester1884Filbert Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 i am a STH in sk1 but got a free ticket in the posh section on tuesday, heard 1 chant from sk1 all night
Soup Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Sounded to me like you were singing songs hardly anyone knew. If we're gonna sing for 90 minutes we have to mix it up a bit.Just take the time to learn them and join in.It's always been that way.
LCFC FOX Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Yeah SK1 was a bit poor the other night, was that because you had 2 stewards on your back up there all night? I'll be looking into getting a season ticket up there next season. I loved the Charlton game and if it can be like that every game I'm coming back
Soup Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 i am a STH in sk1 but got a free ticket in the posh section on tuesday, heard 1 chant from sk1 all night It's your fault then, get back over..
AndWhat? Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Need a core of 30+ season ticket holders together who will be there every game, which will hopefully happen next season, and it will be decent.

Soup Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 You didn't sing for 90 minutes!! You know what I'm trying to say.Sometimes coming on here is f##king pointless.
SystonFox Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 I sat in sk1 on Tuesday, more in the corner section that the actual flat edge of the kop if you get me. Plenty of lads up there trying to get songs going. Mainly the Melbourne victory song which personally I find horrific. Enjoyed it when someone got " bring on the Sunderland the arsenal" going. That's a proper song that. Old school. And what ever happened to just chanting LEICESTER LEICESTER LEICESTER LEICESTER LEICESTER LEICESTER LEICESTERRRRRRR. your arms out stretched and belting it out. Bring some old school songs in, stop ripping these other clubs off who latch onto the latest European trends. Other than that keep up the good work and I'm sure the numbers will grow. I enjoyed having people near me trying to start the chants, better than sitting in silence
Kitchandro Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 It's pretty straight forward really. It's certainly nothing to do with stewards, or the kind of songs or our attendances and 'day trippers'. Against Charlton we had a good number of people willing to sing for 90 minutes. These people chose this area for a specific reason, the same reason, and had the right attitude. This included the 'leaders' if you like; the group of people who were starting songs, and the rest who joined in vociferously. It also spread a long the Kop occasionally. They sang all kinds of songs: old, new, good, average, shit, 'European', 'Australian', Take That. It didn't matter, they were sung loudly by a good number of people. Now, the reason it wasn't like that against Yeovil (or against Blackpool) is because this group of people weren't there. The group in front of me against Charlton had been replaced by youngsters. Those to the right of me were meanly different as well. Quite simply, most chants against Yeovil were sung half heartedly by no more than 5 people. 2 of them were often kids and some other bloke near me. There was simply no one driving the atmosphere. There certainly wasn't a particular 'group' worth a name. I should say that midweek games have always been poorer than Saturday games for atmosphere, ever since I started going. However, I was under the impression that we had a group of people who had made it there aim to go in SK1 for every home game and drive the atmosphere. The only explanation is that this group was not present against Yeovil, certainly not in it's entirety. I will admit that I know little of the Filbo Spirit group or any affiliated people. I have read several posts on the blog, and have been impressed with the ideas the group has and the way they came across. I was enticed to try SK1 out because 1) The group sounded intelligent and thoughtful. 2) The plan appeared to be well thought out and driven by desire 3) I got the impression that it was being carried out by a group of committed lads. What I still am not sure about is 1) How many people are in Filbo spirit and 2) What the match by match strategy is. Clearly, we had number of committed fans against Charlton but not to even nearly the same extent against Yeovil or Blackpool. So what I was wondering is a) Where did all these people go? b) How many people are under the original Filbo Spirit banner? c) Do all of Filbo spirit plan to be in SK1 every game? d) What is their procedure for securing seats there for the rest of this season, baring in mind we will be getting big crowds for the remaining matches? e) Maybe most importantly - why do Filbo Spirit think we haven't kicked on since Charlton?
LCFC FOX Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 I was up there in SK1 against Chartlon but returned to N1 since. But as long as other people commit I will be moving over to SK1 next season permanently
Dan Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 Kitch, I'll leave someone else to answer your questions, but which one are you? Are you the short, longish haired lad who wore the green retro shirt by any chance?

Don't think it's the FS lads doing the rip-offs though, think it's the lads who were up there before this kicked off. Their heart's in the right place and least least they are singing, but I personally agree with you. Any Palace/Celtic rip-offs need to be nipped in the bud ASAP.

howlinmadmurfdoc Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 You know what I'm trying to say.Sometimes coming on here is f##king pointless. I just think to start with you should get people singing songs they know and then gradually introduce the new ones.

It's great some people are making the effort but keep the old classic songs going, there's nothing wrong with them
Union FS Posted 28 March 2014 Author Posted 28 March 2014 Thanks all - much appreciated. It's pretty straight forward really. Kitchandro, that's a great post and your questions are absolutely fair. We'll get back to you on these as soon as possible. Union FS
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 Yes I do agree. It's great some people are making the effort but keep the old classic songs going, there's nothing wrong with them And other fans know them and might even join in.
steveherbe Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 We were there for charlton, but cant make home games normally. Our next 'appearance' will be QPR, we have MM19 and 20 and will be expecting you buggers to sing.
Union FS Posted 28 March 2014 Author Posted 28 March 2014 a) Where did all these people go? Allow us to give you a bit of background on Union FS, it was formed by eight fans. One in Switzerland (now back in Leicester), two in the North West, one in Lincs, one in the South West and the remainder scattered around the rest of Leicestershire. Importantly, only one of these individuals is a current season ticket holder but ALL plan to be season ticket holders next season. Some would say glory supporters but we would argue that they have now been given something to return to off the pitch. We cannot speak for each member's personal circumstances but the feedback we've got from some is that they simply cannot get to midweek games and even struggle for early kick offs at the weekend. b) How many people are under the original Filbo Spirit banner? It's tough to say. We have over 60 fans on our 'members list' but less than half of these are season ticket holders and only 15 or so are currently permanent fixtures in SK1. This will change next season. c) Do all of Filbo spirit plan to be in SK1 every game? For this season, the simple and honest answer is no, unfortunately not. The way the final fixtures have fallen (Friday, Tuesday, early KO, early KO) isn't kind. Having said that, we are confident that our ticketing process designed in liaison with the Club will allow us all to be there every game from the beginning of next season. d) What is their procedure for securing seats there for the rest of this season, baring in mind we will be getting big crowds for the remaining matches? It's tough to say. We cannot 'protect' the area as we hope to do with season tickets next season and are therefore reliant on our members trusting us and buying their tickets between FF-PP, 17-29 every game they can. e) Maybe most importantly - why do Filbo Spirit think we haven't kicked on since Charlton? We think the main reason is the lack of preparation time between games - we had planned for Charlton for nearly three months - combined with midweek kick offs and only a few of the 'leaders' you mention being able to get to every game. It's rather unfortunate that the two loudest members we have happen to live furthest away! Expanding on the lack of preparation point: before Charlton even went on sale, we had told 30-40 people where to buy their tickets. It meant that the day they did go on sale, they were snapped up by people desperate to get in the area and make it a success. We recognise that some might consider not targeting every game until the end of the season to begin with a mistake. Momentum could be lost etc. By the time we changed the approach, tickets were on sale for the remaining games (save for Doncaster) and you could argue it was then too late. It's a fair criticism but at time the thought process was to ensure maximum exposure of a trial by focusing everyone's mind on one game. By showing what we could do, new people would flock. You could also argue that exactly that has happened. Unfortunately without those there to really push the atmosphere, as at Charlton, it has fallen flat.
Soup Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 Love what Filbo Spirit are doing, very proactive in what there trying to do.I think the rest of us are maybe a bit reactive and should be a bit more positive.Lets forget about which songs we're singing and other negative stuff and concentrate in getting the word out more.People who moved for the Charlton game and have gone back to were they used to sit ,it would be great if you come back for the remaining games. This would make us look more appealing to others who are thinking of joining us next season. It was a bit flat up there the other night but that could be the norm next season.
Houdini Logic Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 If there is overcrowding and people spilling into the aisles, which will ultimately lead to the club and other supporters getting pissed off, why don't you just move to an area of the ground where there's loads of free seats?
