Any strength and conditioning coaches or sport performance practitioners on here?

Just wondering if there were any strength and conditioning coaches or anyone who works in a sport and exercise science related role, or anyone who's aspiring to work in these positions, on the forum. As of today I finished my dissertation, which looked at identifying the the required components for a prospective strength and conditioning coach to secure a job within in the industry in the UK. As some of you may remember last year I posted about my eight week trip to working with the Baylor Bears (keep an eye on the NFL draft by the way, it looks like 5 Bears may go in the draft, a school record!), this experience was what led to my research. Anyway, most of the literature surrounding the career development of strength and conditioning coaches is based on professionals in the US where the environment is much more developed providing more opportunities, this led me to wanting to identify what someone like myself would have to do to get into the industry in the UK. As very little research has focused on this topic, I had a pretty good buy in form current professionals, and if I had more time I could have interviewed so many more people.

Would be nice to get to know more professionals within the industry, talk about the study, and what others do! especially those who are Leicester fans!

I partake in such activities but I am not a professional unfortunately.

Something you're working towards or do for enjoyment? I'm still very much in the early developmental stages of my career, looking forward to the day I can call myself a professional.

Have you thought about contacting LCFC sport's science department?

I've considered it wouldn't know how to approach it at the moment, I always keep my eye out for anything going there as the experience would be fantastic. I know they had an intern position at the start of the year and there was an outstanding amount of applicants. I currently do some sport science support at Sheffield United, although as I'm sure you're aware the politics of football restrict what I'm able to do, however it is fantastic environment to be in! A job with Leicester however is the dream

I just follow strength training/hypertrophy programs as a hobby.

Fair enough, admittedly that's probably my weakest area, I struggle to stick to programs however I did a ten week Olympic lifting course earlier in the year, and I'm having a lot of fun with that!

Been doing 5/3/1 for deadlift for a while and working a program around that but I think that I will do the actual 5/3/1 programme for everything soon.

Twitter was identified in my study as one of the best networking tools for coaches..... thanks mate, hadn't really considered it, I appreciate it!

I hear lots of good things about 5/3/1, meant to be a fantastic program for developing strength, maybe something to look at over the summer for myself!

I skim read the title and thought this thread was complaining about the strength of the air conditioning on the match day coaches.

On here, nothing can surprise you!

Maybe worth emailing LCFC as I know we recently lost one of our members of staff to the FWord up the road, he was asked to head up the physio team at there academy.

Cheers buddy, going to send the club a copy of my paper and just see if I can get some experience from them over the summer.
