The Doctor Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 South Korea are not a big team. Portugal are. Spain then beat Germany in the semi-final and Holland in the final. Big difference. South Korea have done as well in recent world cups as Portugal, and better than Portugal in the regional tournaments - what makes Portugal bigger than South Korea?
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 16 June 2014 Posted 16 June 2014 South Korea have done as well in recent world cups as Portugal, and better than Portugal in the regional tournaments - what makes Portugal bigger than South Korea? Better players, better team.
The Doctor Posted 16 June 2014 Posted 16 June 2014 Better players, better team. Really? Ronaldo is better than anything else either side can offer, but are portugals players and team really better? (The answer btw is no, Portugal are the epitome of a one man team)
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 16 June 2014 Posted 16 June 2014 Yes. Portugal would definitely beat South Korea. Argentina haven't made the semi-finals since 1990 but they are still a big team.
MC Prussian Posted 16 June 2014 Posted 16 June 2014 Yes. Portugal with Ronaldo would never be able to beat South Korea. Argentina haven't made the semi-finals since 1990 and they are a team living off its reputation, Diego Maradona and God. Even better.
The Doctor Posted 16 June 2014 Posted 16 June 2014 Yes. Portugal would definitely beat South Korea. Argentina haven't made the semi-finals since 1990 but they are still a big team. They've met once and South Korea won... Argentina are a big team that have under performed for a while, Portugal are not a big team, they have just the one big player.
shen Posted 16 June 2014 Posted 16 June 2014 They've met once and South Korea won... Argentina are a big team that have under performed for a while, Portugal are not a big team, they have just the one big player. Aren't you thinking of North Korea in 1966?
Jimothy Posted 16 June 2014 Posted 16 June 2014 Aren't you thinking of North Korea in 1966? Nope, they met in 2002 at the World Cup. South Korea won 1-0.
shen Posted 16 June 2014 Posted 16 June 2014 Nope, they met in 2002 at the World Cup. South Korea won 1-0. Oh yeah THAT scandalous game... reffed by a man who was so obviously corrupt and later got busted for serious drug trafficking...
Manwell Pablo Posted 16 June 2014 Posted 16 June 2014 Oh yeah THAT scandalous game... reffed by a man who was so obviously corrupt and later got busted for serious drug trafficking... If I can remember correctly their game against Italy was much worse. Didn't Vieri basically have a hat trick of legal goals ruled out

Didn't Vieri basically have a hat trick of legal goals ruled out Yeah, I shouldn't jump into a conversation having not read any of the posts... I was thinking of the Italy game. I'll get my coat now...
Jimothy Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 Yeah, I shouldn't jump into a conversation having not read any of the posts... I was thinking of the Italy game. I'll get my coat now... Think Portugal had two players sent off in that match though. Can't remember how dodgy they were though.
