cc_star Posted 23 September 2014 Posted 23 September 2014 As long as he brings the Ferrero Rocher back with him
DanTheFox07 Posted 23 September 2014 Posted 23 September 2014 Just read via fb that he has signed as an ambassador for Sunderland. Does anyone know if this means he's giving up the strikers coaching role or doing both? He won't be leaving his roles here to do that! Think he is very passionate about what he has started here as a coach and has a very important role on match day's to.
Leicester Lass Posted 23 September 2014 Posted 23 September 2014 Stop the press! Sunderland have signed Kevin Phillips for a second time with the legendary striker agreeing a deal to become an ambassador for the Foundation of Light, the football club’s official charity. The Black Cats’ post-war leading goalscorer has already cemented his place in the club’ folklore but his impact on Wearside is far from over, with this exciting new partnership forming the start of a new chapter in his time with the club. And speaking to safc.com ‘Super Kev’ revealed that he cannot wait to work with the Foundation of Light to continue their superb work throughout the city. “Sunderland will always hold a special place in my heart because I loved my time on Wearside and have really fond memories of the city and the club. “It’s great to be able to give something back to the community after all the support it gave me – and it’s also very hard to say no to Sir Bob.” He continued: “He’s really passionate about the Foundation and has told me just how important the work is that it does. “I look forward to helping take the Foundation forward and to promoting the fantastic work it does in the north east.” The Foundation works with more than 42,000 adults and children across Sunderland, South Tyneside and County Durham annually. The charity now has over 100 employees and many more volunteers. Its mission is to use the power of football to help young people and their families realise their full potential. Structurally and financially independent of the football club, Foundation of Light is reliant on fundraising for 90% project costs. The Foundation’s base is currently housed within the Stadium of Light, but proposals for a new home, the Beacon of Light, have been approved by Sunderland Council. The Beacon will be an exciting and inspiring education, training and sports facility located next to both the Sunderland Aquatic Centre and the Stadium of Light. The unique centre will be the first of its kind in the UK and include engaging and interactive zones in education; health and fitness; sport and play; and the world of work and will welcome thousands of children, young people and adults through its doors every week.
Chug Laguna Posted 23 September 2014 Posted 23 September 2014 Hopefully in his new role he can hammer out some treaties and we can see peace in our time with wearside
Xen Posted 23 September 2014 Posted 23 September 2014 Ambassador for their charity, not the club. He'll be staying here (if that wasn't obvious already...)
