Fatty Arbuckle Posted 7 November 2014 Posted 7 November 2014 Aaaaaaahahahahaha... you mean Palace who currently sit on the same points as we do? Have a word, Tony Pulis is well known to be one of the biggest culprits of wasting money around. Go and speak to some Stoke fans. ****ing Andrew Johnson Andrew Johnson 0 Appearances 0 Goals. Danny Gabbidon was at Palace before he joined Ezekiel Fryers 1 Appearance Kettings 0 appearances Campbell we were in for anyway. So your list comes down to two defenders... and palace hat let in three more goals than us. His point is even more invalid (if possible) as Pulis didn't even sign all of those players, he was gone from Palace long before Fryers and Johnson were signed!
Bettsj2 Posted 7 November 2014 Posted 7 November 2014 His point is even more invalid (if possible) as Pulis didn't even sign all of those players, he was gone from Palace long before Fryers and Johnson were signed! Its not really though. The point of the thread is about recruitment. Just substitute Warnock for Pulis for those players and the point remains that I think those players would strengthen us as things stand.
kingfox Posted 7 November 2014 Posted 7 November 2014 Didn't Pulis also sign Scott Dann & Joe Ledley. His recruitment & management last January onwards made a massive difference to Palace. Of the players he signed for them, I would take most of them over what we have atm.

The point of the thread is absolutely about our summer recruitment; but the point of your post was that Pulis' summer recruitment was so much better than ours and then listed players he had signed. By including players signed by Warnock it just gives strength to the argument that you don't actually know what you're on about! I do agree that our recruitment this summer was pretty poor though. For whatever reason.

Regardless of who signed the players, they were players that we could have signed that would have made the summer stronger. Lets be honest, if i'd have said Pulis and Warnock at Palace instead of just Pulis at Palace, the point wouldnt have been received any better as i'm anti Pearson and in the minority.
sylofox Posted 7 November 2014 Posted 7 November 2014 As with any organisation its hard to know what the owners allowed Pearson to do by way of transfer spending over the Summer. Common sense suggests that, must unless he is deluded, he have wanted to strengthen the squad more than he did? Certainly the clubs salary policy probably did not help him plus with the club being newly promoted. Certainly Dyer was never replaced and it would be interesting to know whether Pearson really wanted to keep him? After all what is a years salary compared to what he offered us by way of something different? I suspect that the owners are going to be having a think at whether to replace Pearson next month or not? Thus giving a new manager a month or so to assess the current squad before spending money in January? I think we all know he lost out on one or two players. But personally I would rather we go down with money in the bank than him do a Sven and buy for the sake of it. He knows what he wants and has done nothing but good for our club. So if we make a fight and go down fine better that than go down with a squad like sven left and no money.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 7 November 2014 Posted 7 November 2014 All of which is utter guess work, so if you are holding any of that against Pearson it's all pretty useless as far as reasons go. It's quite clear, that Pearson simply cocked the summer recruitment, well and truly up. It was likely due to naivety, inexperience, or a combination of the two. Whichever, it was a massive balls up. I still believe we should stick with him though, and only dispose of his services if we look like being relegated. Let's all hope he can turn things around, but it will take a mighty struggle to retain our status.

I am almost with you in the Pearson out camp though; this is all too familiar and I'm not sure Pearson knows how to turn things round.I still maintain that he got lucky last season in that we got off to a winning start and suffered no injuries meaning he never had to change anything.
