johnny the fox Posted 27 November 2014 Posted 27 November 2014 The ex cabinet minister has lost his liable case. he has now lost his career, reputation and in the region of 3 million pounds over ONE WORD!. and the people of this country put their faith in these MP's judgement.. god help us all..
Webbo Posted 27 November 2014 Posted 27 November 2014 It's unbelievable that even though CCTV evidence proves that the PC lied the judge has decided he has telling the truth. I don't know why we bothered with the trial when the judge had obviously decided he was going to screw the tory before it even began.
Alf Bentley Posted 27 November 2014 Posted 27 November 2014 Surprised at that verdict. I'd assumed that he would win. The judge's verdict seems to have been mainly based on the policeman having been too thick to have made the story up! Regardless of whether he said it, it was very unwise to bring the case if there was any chance of losing it, surely? If he DID say it, surely he could have apologised, blamed it on a moment of temper, done a bit of penance and come back?

I don't know why we bothered with the trial when the judge had obviously decided he was going to screw the tory before it even began. Did the CCTV prove that this particular plod had lied, though, Webbo? I know that it proved that the plod who sent the anonymous email had lied (he's since been sacked and jailed), plus about 3 backroom staff were sacked for lying and dodgy conduct.....and another 3 plods from the Police Federation are still under investigation after Mitchell secretly taped a meeting with them, allegedly disproving their claims about the meeting.....but this one? The judge must reckon that this particular plod is the only honest copper in the force.....apparently on the grounds that he's too thick to be dishonest! Takes you back to the days when the police would round up a few Irish petty criminals and pissheads for terrorist offences so that they didn't have to bother finding the real IRA bombers, in the knowledge that judges would never distrust a policeman! I must admit that I'd assumed that Mitchell was innocent of using the "pleb" word.....guilty of using offensive language and being a supercilious, bad-tempered shit, maybe. Either this is a miscarriage of justice or Mitchell has been unbelievably reckless to bring a case that he wasn't sure that he'd win....

Like a lot of arrogant men Mitchell is the architect of his own downfall with his stupid hubris.. brainless.
Guest MattP Posted 27 November 2014 Posted 27 November 2014 Will comment further when I've read the news properly but seems an unbelievable decision on the face of facts we've been presented with.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 27 November 2014 Posted 27 November 2014 It's not like he called him a see you next Tuesday, from utterance to verdict a complete waste of time and money.
Rob1742 Posted 28 November 2014 Posted 28 November 2014 I used to listen to MP's, police etc and value their opinions etc as I thought they were people who were helping us and deserving respect. Police will do anything to complete an investigation, i.e, create a case against you, which I found out recently when a friend of mine was accused. They will do anything to put a case to the CPS, so it's about results only. Then the MP's, government etc. These people flipping houses, expenses, then this case just shows why I haven't anytime for them. The reason - well something was said, and it has been going backwards and forwards for over a year. Like s playground spat. He said, she said. It even ends up in court. What a complete farse. From Milliband making something out of it, to Caneron defending it. To the papers giving it space in the papers (headlines), to the police making something out of it. It is utterly ridiculous and shows everyone involved to be incompetent and just after point scoring like silly children. This shows these people up for what they all are and shows we cannot trust people who run our society, because they clearly can't manage anything themselves. You look at all the child abuse that was hidden and you initially thought, surely not??? Well just look at how incompetent these people are, how they lie and can't sort anything out and it's easy to see you can't trust them. They will protect each other as they are all as bad as each other. No time for them and this taking s year going backwards and forwards just shows you that people we should look upto, we certainly should not

I suspect its always been the same, Iv'e got an ongoing case with the IPCC , but have no faith in the outcome, the police marking their own homework.

Helping the public is way down their list of priorities. We mostly get what we deserve when the bottom line becomes the be all and end all of everything.
Jon the Hat Posted 28 November 2014 Posted 28 November 2014 The judge has really messed up this one. The police lied and lied and lied, and have admitted it.
davieG Posted 28 November 2014 Posted 28 November 2014 Plebgate: 'Andrew Mitchell should not have lost job', says ex-PC http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-30242193

I've been involved with IPCC investigations twice over the years and both incidents were eventually swept under the carpet and forgotten, one could have cost a city fan his career if the court had convicted him on the lies told by his arresting officer.

This is my second time.. if you knew the details of my case you would not believe it..I can't get my head round it and it happened to me.
