Foxestalk favourite Poster XI of the past decade

Recommended Posts

Posted

Right, here goes...

GK: Shen - Because putting a Dane between the sticks seems to be popular with many posters on here.

RB: Foxy Peter - It was either him or Bellend Sebastian, but Foxy's movement and tactical awareness just edged it for me.

CB: Thracian - Academy product, often on the defensive, but not afraid to attack. Probably going to be released in the summer.

CB: Babylon - A towering figure who seems to have been around for ages. His nous in willing defending his team has seen him win many a battle.

LB: Dr The Singh - The Guru of innuendo, brings guarenteed success, because we, "only Singh when we're winning!"

RW: Ultra - Always tracking back (or is that back tracking), he won't get caught with his pants down!

CM: Captain... - Holds the ball up well, this playmaker is first on the teamsheet as default captain. Never gets egg on his face (unless it's mixed with flour and milk first)

CM: General Smuts - We already have our captain, but we need a midfield general. Maybe  not selected so much these days, but he is Leicester's Finest Fox.

LW: MattP - Left wing? Yes, because (and not many people know this) MattP is Matt Piper.

ST: Finnegan - The Welsh Wizard can annoy the most cohesive and logical of defensives. Relentless, dogged and most of all the working-man's working man!

ST: Unabomber - He's here, he's there, he's every ********where! In with a quick contribution there, a clever trick here, moving left, moving right and then BLAM!

The Bench

MikeyT - Good all-rounder, utility guy. Very much aware of the big picture - focused.

Kingfox - King of "banter", very verbal, always talking, but needs to take the next step up.

Fox92 - Help! We need somebody! He's training eight days a week, he'll help us get back where we belong.

DavieG - Wiley character who's been there and done it all. Experience the youngsters can learn from.

Leicesterpool - After a shock result in a FoxesTalk poll, he makes the bench! :o

Webbo - Wonder Webster, as he's called (behind his back), not afraid to take them on, even in the face of overwhelming stupidity.

Rincewind - Because he's got bottle... and some of them aren't even empty yet!

I feel privileged sir. I thank you.

This type of thread seems to be trending so I thought I'd start a light-hearted one too...

What's your favourite Poster XI?

Just write which position you are choosing each poster in and why.

I'll get started:

"Pincho Salt FC "

Manager - Finnegan - Just pips myself, despite (or is it because of?) being known as Shen-Göran Eriksson in some places, to the position. Many years experience as a manager, albeit in FM, and has a history of unearthing unknown gems, playing attractive football in outlandish but otherwise sound formations. The 4-1-3-2 below, also known as the 'upside down parasol', shows exactly what I mean.

GK - Lisa - Underestimate her at your peril. I imagine her being as intimidating as Peter Schmeichel in his prime. Has potential to distract opposition attackers due to her gender, a trait she will use to ruthless effect to eliminate any threat to her goal.

RB - Manwell Pablo - Was class at Deportivo. A cultured poster who will be a harsh critic of Finnegan should the manager not live up to his reputation. You need this sort of player in your team. He's the one that defines when the 'dressing room is lost'.

CD - davieG - A true Foxestalk legend, who has been around the whole decade and been a major influence. Not as prominent as in years gone by, but still very much part of the furniture. Some will say he's past it, but his cool head and composure is so valuable to this team. A natural leader.

CD - DB11 - A FoxesTalk youth product, he started his career very erratically, and I think few would have thought he would grow the poster he is now. Under the guidance of davieG he has developed a good head and maybe one day he'll be the natural replacement for his mentor.

LB - MC Prussian - He's Swiss. Bruno Berner is Swiss. This is as nailed on a position as it gets!

DM - Babylon - I want a Towering poster here. Always gives 100 % and famous for defending the seemingly indefensible. Never shirks from a encounter and has saved numerous posters from losing their sanity in the past. Essential player for Pincho Salt.

RW - Jon the Hat - Close call between him and MattP. A skilled and classic Right winger, who's the type that will never Labour too hard. Can provoke a reaction from opponents and while it's never nice to admit, a Dennis Wise type character can be a very effective one to have in your team.

CAM - Ric Flair - Every team needs some Flair and Ric has it in abundance. A clear crowd favourite.

LW - Rincewind - The opposite of Jon the Hat. A hard trier, but generally fails with his final post. Often trips over himself with his elaborate drivels, but his persisting attitude and determination not to let ridicule affect him is highly enamouring. The team mascot and richly deserved place in the team.

ST - MooseBreath - If he lives up to his name, I suspect very few defenders will want to mark him closely. Potentially lethal partnership with Col City fan. Never one to shirk from a duel and his blunt approach will give this team a different dimension.

ST - Col City fan - Controversial. Will attract a lot of attention on account of being 'different' which will hopefully create space for the players around him. It's not always pretty, but it's effective. The 'Voice of Reason' has also previously given rise to suspicion that he might be Jay Emanuel Thomas, which proves his football credentials.

Subs:

Mark - Sometimes you need a player who just does his job and keeps things ticking over. Tends to not get noticed that much, but very important to this team.

ScouseFox - Such a staunch defender of Gerrard I actually think he might be his brother, and he isn't half bad. Good option to bring on.

Trav le Bleu - Offers a very good Alternative option. He's a DJ and the last one Leicester had proved useful as an impact player.

Zingari - A laborious poster that will try again and again to find solutions and answers to problems that sometimes aren't even there. In games where referees, the FA and opposition fans seem to conspire against the team, he's the perfect man to bring on.

Orkneyfox - Because Chebs. Nuff said.

TPH - A real Robbie Savage type of character. Extremely laborious, with mostly poor contributions, but will amuse the crowd with occasional brilliance. These days few listen to what he has to say though. Prone to get suspensions though, which is why he's on the bench.

Bert - Seems to have a knack of knowing what will happen before it does. I can think of a few situations when this ability could come in handy.

I'm so touched to make it onto the subs list! BTW where has the Chebs thread gone? Has it been removed for too much Chebbyness?
