Danny Drinkwater a loan target for wolves ?

Has he played with Matty James this season ? I don't think his style suits the likes of King. I cant for the life of me remember.

Once from what I remember and they both dominated, best match Drinkwater's played all season and I remember there being a thread afterwards showing how his stats were one of the best on the pitch, we still lost though

Crikey.

I'm not sure if you are saying DD should play in front of James?

The latter not the quickest - that's not his game - but for me the only one of last seasons c midfield to step up and make a fist of it this time, and do most of what is expected.

Not sure I could entertain the notion of DD as being a pace merchant either, plus he's been probably our most disappointing player when he has played, based on what we were expecting.

One of Pearson's long list of faults is continuing to pick out of form players. DD is apparently not even on his mind as a starter.

I agree that we need pace up front however - their back line pretty old and creaky. Sadly not as old and creaky as ours, but still.

I'm not saying Drinkwater should play in front of James, who has been impressing me recently, I just worry about the pace in midfield. In the formation/set up we've been playing recently, not one of the two central midfielders have enough pace to support him. James will play a one two with Kramaric but not have the pace to get the ball or might be played through but not have enough pace to get away from the defenders. I've seen this many times. I understand it's not James' game but when he's playing alongside Cambiasso then James is the one to do all this.

But then again we haven't had that tireless midfielder since Izzet left. Look back at him, or think back to him, and he was a real definition of box to box and his pace was a great asset too. He could pick the ball up and run with it.

I agree a new Izzet would be just what the Doctor ordered. We have haven't got one though, which along with a few other positions, is the reason we are where we are.

What was Pearson thinking in respect of recruitment when he decided virtually all of last season's team were of PL quality, when virtually none had played at this level. Why not have a contingency plan, or better still set your stall out to buy some quality BEFORE the season started?

In almost every post I submit on here I come back to the same conclusion that it is plain mismanagement. I can't help it. I'm boring myself, I'm off topic....goodnight

This....

It's too late now to start looking for the options we should have provided at the start of the season. All us knew the positions which needed requirement one them clearly being a box to box creative midfielder or a strong central mid who can grab a game by the scruff of the neck.

The fact that NP still didn't look at options in January sums up that he thinks our squad is good enough when unfortunately it clearly isn't.

He brought in Albrighton, doesn't play him. He's dropped Knocky who also gives us another attacking/creative option. We are now talking about another midfielder possibly going on loan.

My major worry is long term. If by the gods we do stay up - we need to sign someone to do this in the summer. I just don't like Pearson's recruitment policy, there where a number of good Prem players available on free's at the start of this season and we just didn't seem to go in for them? I don't want this to be a regular occurrence.

Drinkwater was horrendous at Spurs, and at Man Utd.

He's been one of the main disappointments this season for me.

Home to Spurs

EC will need a rest in April and a fresh DD can start with James

That's assuming we don't get another injury

Loan him out? We are trying to stay up for goodness sake
