Tielemans63 Posted 17 May 2012 Posted 17 May 2012 Both in talks according to SSN. Would both be good appointments IMHO.
Jimothy Posted 17 May 2012 Posted 17 May 2012 Leicesterpool will be gutted Lambert isn't going Villa.
ScouseFox Posted 17 May 2012 Posted 17 May 2012 I'll be sad if both happen. I like both managers and properly dislike both clubs. What a dilemma.
Soar Fox Posted 17 May 2012 Posted 17 May 2012 I don't get all the hype about Martinez. I know Wigan play decent football at times but since Steve Bruce left Wigan have been fighting relegation up until the last couple of games every season he's been in charge. Ole Gunnar Solskjær I don't really think he'll be the right man for villa. The villa fans expectations are to high and I doubt they would be happy to wait for him to implement his own style.
ScouseFox Posted 17 May 2012 Posted 17 May 2012 One thing is for sure, they'd both need time to adapt to big clubs and new squads. Neither set of fans are exactly known for being patient, are they?
Jaspa Posted 17 May 2012 Posted 17 May 2012 @ Villa That club has got some major problems going on somewhere. Will be in the Championship soon, for a Newcastle style rebirth. Martinez is a gamble that might just work. Not sure he'd get 100% respect from the fans, as hes only ever managed a Championship Swansea and constant relegation fodder Wigan. But could work

Jaspa Posted 17 May 2012 Posted 17 May 2012 According to SSN the Solskjaer to Villa rumour came from Randy Lerner's jet being seen in Norway Seeming as he's loaded, and an international businessman, I can see this turning out to be bull
Fox92 Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Leicesterpool will be gutted Lambert isn't going Villa. ... Lambert will not leave Norwich yet, especially for a sideways step. No disrespect to Villa, because they are a big club, big ground, big fanbase, but Lambert has built Norwich up and I cannot see him throwing that out of the window to join Villa, a club that finished below Norwich this season. Paul Lambert was on Goals on Sunday a couple of weeks ago. He said as soon as he joined Norwich, the board didn't give him any expectations just incase he didn't reach them and it looked like he failed. Imagine it at Villa, I mean, it always seemed like 6th and 7th under Martin O'Neill wasn't good enough - I can even remember watching Match of the Day and the fans booing after the first game of season when Villa were beaten by Wigan 0-2.
Uncle Phil Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Brednan Rogers has turned down the opportunity to talk to Liverpool, he thinks it's too early for him.

I said pretty much the same thing in the "Next for Villa?" thread. Plus Lambert has a history with Norwich, which is why he jumped ship to them after his Colchester side had thumped them 7-1. Lambert to Villa was all paper talk, was never going to happen.
