Facecloth Posted 23 September 2014 Share Posted 23 September 2014 I was saying to a mate a few weeks ago about Blackett getting into the under 21's. There are players in the under 21's who despite not playing much first team football, have clearly been on the radar, and spotted playing reserve/youth matches. Like Garbutt at Everton for example. Blackett had never been in the U21 squad, until he played and put on a not very impressive display v Swansea, and suddenly he's in the squad. It's a bloody joke. Of course, Liam doesn't play for a top 4 club, so he's got no chance. There are plenty of other better defensive options out there than Blackett too - like others have mentioned; why has Shawcross never gotten a look-in? Micah Richards is right - if your face doesn't fit, you've got no chance with England. Part of the reason our national side is such a joke.
