Wilkesy Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 ive gone for the simpsons, all time great IMO, not really seen much of the others though
Libertine Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 Simpsons back in the day beats all, but if we're talking about the newer ones, then Family Guy and the rest are way better.
lookwhaticando Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 Simpsons back in the day beats all, but if we're talking about the newer ones, then Family Guy and the rest are way better. Exactly. The Simpsons has been overdone like you wouldn't believe. Especially over here where it's on about 100 times a day. Family Guy got my vote as it's the only one I really watch at all.
Libertine Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 Homer Simpson is an absolute work of genius, but unfortunately his character has been totally ruined. All he does now is shout/cry etc for the sake of it...It's just not funny.

Leicester's 12th Man Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 Simpsons - the original. Futurama is liked by me but the Simpsons is the daddy
Joe. Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 Family Guy! Hilarious The Simpsons will always be the most legendary though. There has to be a place for such a great show
Libertine Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 I find the rest of the characters have been limp for... oooh I dunno... about a decade now? It's gone downhill since the millenium I'd say. The ones that have been on Channel 4 over here in the past few weeks are the best. Mid to late 90s they were absolutely on fire. Here's proof.

To be honest, those Simpsons episodes give Family Guy a run for the money. But that's not the only period in which the Simpsons were made, and the dross now outweighs the quality - for me - so The Simpsons I rate a hell of a lot lower than I otherwise would. Shame on the writers for allowing themselves to drop their standards so far. Have they no shame?

I think they've had a change in personnel though or so I heard, so that may partly explain the vast drop in quality. But...how good is Hank Azaria?! (Voices of most characters including Moe, Chief Wiggum etc.)

If I'm correct (and I haven't consulted wikipedia yet), "The Simpsons" are already running for 20 (?) years now, which is an absolute record for a TV series, yet an animated one alone. I mean, the Simpsons Universe is immensely big, but at some point or the other, you're running out of creative ideas. They'll have a place in my TV-Heaven forever, for no other series was able to persiflage the American Way Of Life this subversely. Simpsons rule! (But Family Guy can be hella funny, too!)

(Voices of most characters including Moe, Chief Wiggum etc.) To show you how far they're stretching the franchise, the feature-length movie is due in July. Probably a distraction. Interesting that in Season 14 (whenever that was) was when stars appeared as themselves rather than playing other parts - connected to the crappiness perhaps? A move from character-based comedy to silly antics has been blamed by some. Wikipedia is my friend.
filbertway Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 American dad is pretty funny, isn't south park american? Simpsons probably take sit for me though, even though I like them all equally and voted for american dad
Floating Fox Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 Simpsons and Futurama although I have all the Famiyl Guy DVD's

Yes - they'll definitely run out of ideas eventually, if they haven't already. Personally I thought that had already happened a while ago. Having not seen more recent episodes, I wouldn't want to repeat that claim - they may have found something new since then.

I heard pretty reliably that The Simpsons Movie is where it all finishes and some loose ends are gonna be sorted out (Like Smithers and Mr Burns)
filbertway Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 South Park is indeed American. Why is it not there then?
lcfc_jme Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 Based on the choices, it'd have to be Simpsons. It's fooking quality South Park is marginally better though
Cobbo Posted 3 January 2007 Posted 3 January 2007 Homer is my idol. I can't decide between the simpsons and family guy. I must say some of the south parks are immense - some shockers but some gut bustingly funny ones. 'No kitchen is complete without a crucifix' 'Yeah cos there's nothing more appetising than a dying jew nailed to a cross' Ah it makes me piss (family guy, not xenophobia)
Webbo Posted 3 January 2007 Posted 3 January 2007 simpsons family guy american dad futurama in that order.
