fox123 Posted 24 March 2008 Share Posted 24 March 2008 Seeing as I brought my self a PS3 a couple of days ago and really getting into the online gaming with Motorstorm and Resistance: Fall of Man; I noticed there wasn't an online gaming thread and thought might start one here! Resistance is really cool, especially when you go onto the team Death Matches, it kinda reminds me of when there used to be Laser Quest in town! Motorstorm I'm actually quite poor at and my girlfriends daughter seems to be putting me to shame! Be interested to hear about other people's online gaming experiences! DB11 Posted 24 March 2008 Share Posted 24 March 2008 Online for the PS3 I have, COD: Modern Warfare, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, FIFA 08, Pro Evo (never go on it)
Legend_in_blue Posted 24 March 2008 Share Posted 24 March 2008 Online for the PS3 I have, COD: Modern Warfare, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, FIFA 08, Pro Evo (never go on it) Online, COD4 is an absolute blast. Rainbow Six Vegas was the online game before this was out, everyone had a headset and it was pretty cool taking on Americans. Now the sequel is out, RSV2, the online aspect at the moment is pants. The servers aren't up to the task, and I'm having difficulty joining any sort of online game. DB11, are you having the same probs with it? I hope they sort this out. The single player is pretty cool though - but that's not why I bought it! Only 4 days to go to GT5 Prologue!
Maybes Posted 24 March 2008 Share Posted 24 March 2008 Anyone purchases Rainbow Six Vegas 2....is it as good as the original? I am considering going out and purchasing.
Legend_in_blue Posted 24 March 2008 Share Posted 24 March 2008 Anyone purchases Rainbow Six Vegas 2....is it as good as the original? I am considering going out and purchasing. It's an improvement on the original. I have both now. Need to trade in the former. The only problem with it at the moment is the online play. It's terrible as it's almost impossible to join any of the games. Whereas the original launched you straight into a game of your choice, this one operates a lobby system and you choose from there. The only problem with that is you can't join the games - it'll come up with a msg like 'unable to connect to server' or some rubbish like that. They need to sort out the servers for it. Hopefully within the week it's sorted. The only other slight criticism I have is that some of the old maps, i.e. LUV Campus and Calypso Casino, are not available in this game, which is a shame. I think COD4 had similar problems early on when us peeps in the EU were trying to access the servers. When I've joined a game, it's a blast, just like the original. Everyone has headsets and it's far more tactical than COD4. A welcome distraction to COD4. Graphically it's an improvement on the original although compared to current games, ala COD4, it's still not up to scratch, although it looks reasonably good. I only really want it for the online play to be honest so I may aswell wait, like you say until the servers are sorted.

Everyone I know is But I think the online play is the best part. Doing story mode and terrorist hunt. Single player is boring Story mode with friends online = the best! The Reverend Posted 24 March 2008 Share Posted 24 March 2008 Seems to be mostly PS3-ers giving there say here, but it says 360 and Wii too so..... Online gaming is awesome. I have CoD4, Halo3, The Orange Box, all brilliant online. Online gaming is the future. While we're talking about Rainbow 6, i have the original, and thought it was average online, though iv only got it relatively recently, so i dont think that many folks are on it that much nowadays, so i may consider getting the sequel. Obviously i will wait a while though, they always get problems on release, as obviously not as many people have it, so i'll wait i think.

The Reverend Posted 24 March 2008 Share Posted 24 March 2008 Is that any good, i've been contemplating buying that tomorrow, along with Fifa 08 and Assassins Creed! I refer you to this thread for a few valuable opinions on it. As i said in that thread, i've only just got it, but for what you get it is fantastic value. Half Life 2, HL2: Ep. 1, HL2 Ep. 2, Portal, and Team Fortress. Basically, you get 4 games, and the Multiplayer (Team Fortress), which is a game in itself. So 5 games. Brilliant. Obviously the 3 Half Life's are self explanatory, they follow the Half Life story. But Portal is a fantastic little puzzle game, that really makes you think outside the box. You may think its a bit weird at first but you will be hooked. Not particularly long, thats if you do complete it! I havent yet! And Team Fortress is something a bit different to your usual FPS Multiplayer, loads of fun. Just get it. Another point, i also have Assassins Creed, good game if you like to sit and marvel at the graphics, they are pretty amazing, and it is a good game, very good in fact, but it gets a bit repetetive. Between AC and The Orange Box? Get both. Fcuk FIFA!

Guest Posted 24 March 2008 Share Posted 24 March 2008 Yeah Orange Box is great. I had Assassin's creed too but I completed it quite quickly. Apparently there's gonna be a couple more in the Assassin's Creed series. I'm waiting for Streetfighter IV, Resident Evil 5 (at least I think we're up to 5) and Ghostbusters

Legend_in_blue Posted 25 March 2008 Share Posted 25 March 2008 The servers on Rainbow Six Vegas 2 PS3 are still buggered. So for anyone buying this one, hold out a little longer and hopefully it will be sorted out. I guess this is what you get for a free online service. If this was XBox Live though I would be fuming!
