Guest Col city fan Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 Lets look at some realities: 1. Our form is currently the worst in the division, or very nearly 2. Many players seem bereft of confidence - Weale, King, the Yak, Kamara (who DOES blow hot and cold I'm afraid) 3. If we lost the bulk of the loanees, our squad, as highlighted on here yesterday, looks severely lacking for next season 4. Sven's post match interviews continue to be so dull and so sit-on-the-fence that they verge on the embarassing 5. Defensively AS A UNIT we are shambolic and leaking goals 6. I have been accused on here of being apparently 'racist' for questioning Sven's ability, not his CV which I have suggested is excellent, but NOW. This is nothing more than an insult.. Others have been labelled 'spastic' for questioning Sven... again this is just WRONG 7. Our two top young players from last year, Hobbs and Waggy, are 'out of favour'? Why, given these, do the Sven bummers still not want to accept any of this? We have been dreadful the past couple of months and have gone into games not expecting to win them. Let me ask you a question.... if it was Dowie, or Boothroyd at the helm currently, would they get the patience, the understanding of so many on this forum? I would suggest not........ For me, Sven is living by reputation and reputation alone and do the owners of this club know enough about football to appreciate that Sven may attract players and offer big wages, but seems unable to get them playing? I continue to be worried, based upon the points made above and no amount of unsubstantiated 'Sven love' is changing my opinion that this team, compared to last season, is disorganised, low on confidence and under-performing. I would suggest that we don't look like a team at all, merely a group of expensively assembled individuals...

FoxesFan123 Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 I like Sven, dont get me wrong. But it annoys me when people defend him by saying 'look where we were when he came'. People seem to forget he has spent an absolute shed load of money, with the backing of the Thais. Should we expect to be in playlets? Yes, I think so. I think he has failed so far, but he should stay and we'll do it next season

I genuinely fear for the future of our club if the mercenary is still in charge at the start of next season. He's admitted himself he doesn't know jack about this league, so doesn't appreciate the qualities needed to win promotion. His record in the transfer market is also less than convincing. Are folk out there really wetting themselves over the prospect of more Ricardos, Brumas or Yakubus? If so, they have some very serious issues.

I dont want to keep on chopping and changing managers but, based upon some of these facts, the unwillingness to acknowledge there is any kind of problem here is just ridiculous. I'd love to see us romp the league next season, but questions need asking at the moment without blindly resorting to just ass-kissing.

Sven has made mistakes but signing players in the season is harder that in the summer as prices are over the top. In the summer there will be a lot of good players on free's and i'm sure Sven will be able attracted the higher end of them.

Did you seriously expect Sven doing wonders in one single January transfer window? You make him a fool - seriously, why don't you get your own football club and **** it up yourself? Tools be tools.
MC Prussian Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 and I KNEW you'd say that too... change the record mate and give us something to work with What - more food for the knee-jerkers and the Sven Out! brigade? You wish. You'll also find that the ones in dire need of changing the record are part of the aforementioned club.
sphericalfox Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 Why is it Col City that you CANNOT understand, and I include several other posters in this, that Sven has worked with what was available in the loan market (a VERY limited marketplace) and what frees were of any quality. He has not had the REAL opportunity to do so, and could only patch a team together using a system he is not comfortable with. There was always going to be failures within all this. It was inevitable. Considering this, Sven somehow has managed to get us very close to the playoffs. Your continual use of the terminology of Sven-bumming is both ignorant and short-sighted. The majority of the people who are disagreeing with you have NOT made their minds up yet about Sven. They are giving him the benefit of the doubt under the circumstances that he took over the team. Yes there is disappointment. Yes Sven has made mistakes. But there is criticism, not unjust criticism within this majority. It just seems to me that there are those with an agenda to see the back of Sven, due to an opinion generated under his England helm, and they can't shake this opinion as down the pub/at the office/ or wherever, they laid into him good and proper, and now he's our manager it would look very hypocritical to change their tune. These are the stick in the muds. Those who don't like change.

I dont want Sven out - read my posts......... what I DO want is a realistic debate on current areas for improvement. To shout for the dismissal of Sven is as fruitless as some nostalgic reflection on Pearson... What I dont want is simply to have to suffer some unsubstantiated kissing of anyone's arse when its clear issues need addressing. No more, no less than this.. And theres no need to swear...
dave_the_fox Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 On paper I think ALL of svens signings have been greeted with agreement on here- even the likes of bednar and Kirkland- was just that they didn't work out for whatever reason. How many people said the yak is shit when he signed!? Unfortunately for us, it just didn't work out. Hindsight is wonderful pal Another thing u mentioned, Svens interviews, I always think they are spot on what he says- not in Sousas league anyway!

Quite right that an awful lot of people are still on the fence regarding Sven but as you say, to not acknowledge the good job he's done since coming in is ridiculous as it is to not acknowledge that he has clearly made mistakes too.

I dont want Sven out (see last post above) but what I do want is the opportunity to be able to express reservations on his ability in an adult forum, without the need to be accused of being racist, a 'spastic' or anything else of this ilk. Reading the posts on here over the last few weeks you will surely appreciate the number of people who seemingly blindly refuse to look at the utterly dreadful football we are playing at the moment. I dont' want to be blinkered simply BECAUSE its Sven at the helm. I ask again, would Dowie, Boothroyd, Coleman get this patience.. Again I would proffer that they wouldnt.

EVERY POST YOU HAVE MADE IN THE LCFC FORUM COULD AND SHOULD BE IN THE SAME THREAD. YOUR POINT OF VIEW IS NOTED AND UNDERSTOOD. I GET IT. WE ALL KNOW THE FORM AND THE ISSUES. IT'S JUST THAT SOME OF US THINK IT'S A TAD EARLY FOR A WITCH HUNT. GO OUT AND ENJOY THE SUNSHINE - TAKE A VALIUM - JUST DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT- IT MIGHT LEAD TO A WELL ROUNDED MOMENT OF CONTENTMENT OR OPTIMISM - YOU NEVER KNOW. OFF TO A BEER FESTIVAL NOW, BYE. N.

After three quarters of a season whilst dragging us out of the relegation places...? I bet they would.. I, for my part, would doubt it, if you or anyone else of your posse would hold back with your "criticism" if we had the same spell under a different manager. Admit it - you want "adult" discussions, only to pester all sensible posters with your bottomless, ever-so-repetitive "criticism" of Sven. It's getting a tad bit... redundant.
