  1. Is this a comment on the origins of the English?
  2. Baby boomers have been given everything they wanted from successive governments to the cost of their children and still they complain
  3. Yeah I'd prefer setting things on fire
  4. Yeah Brexiters really shat the bed on immigration by moving the debate so far from reality people are now unwilling to engage in any kind of discussion about it even when the numbers have got so large.
  5. Has anybody reminded Farage that he supported prioritising immigration from the RoW over the much much smaller EU?
  6. 1) Vote conservative 2) as yet undecided second stage 3) save the economy
  7. Farage being in UK politics is not good in any way, even if it takes voters away from the conservatives.
  8. As much as I would love to see the Tories lose even harder, the fact that Reform are seen as a 'danger' electorally is just such a depressing indictment of politics in England and the right wing especially.
  9. Farage really shames this country
  10. I thought this was the name of the beer when I started reading the post. Definitely sounds like a 6.8% coffee stout brewed in a former Methodist Church in Manchester.
  11. Shit. Great player and seems like a good guy. Hoping he pulls through and makes a full recovery.
  12. Arsenal also scored more goals than 95/96 Newcastle in their two league wins under Graham.
  13. And Liverpool. They had a very similar GF/GA record to us in 15/16 (we actually scored more), but we are remembered for grinding out 1-0 victories.
  14. The Garden of the Finzi-Contini, about an Italian Jewish family on the eve of WW2. Beautifully written, maybe my favourite novel of the year, but knowing what's going to happen I'm not sure I can bring myself to finish it.
  15. Bit of an 18th century feel to this. Proper Euro group.
  16. Probably Graham's Arsenal. Must be gutting for Newcastle fans to think back to 95/96 and how they blew it. That team is probably remembered as much for "I'd luv it" as the scintillating football they played at times.
  17. Anglophilia is still much more widespread in Europe than we think. You still see lots of English music or football themed bars and our media and literature is still widely consumed. They generally think we're idiots for Brexit but we have a cool factor that no other country does.
  18. I remember them winning when I was in my early teens and it was the first they'd won in like 30 years. Think they've won seven or eight since then.
  19. Zidane having some wardrobe malfunctions this evening
  20. Bit Jude the Obscure tonight
  21. I like him but he's harsh on the strikers
  22. Just before they play in London. Coincidence? I'll let you decide.
