  1. Don't really understand how you can look at the last ten years of UK politics and come to this conclusion
  2. I think it's 5 different fa cup winners in the last five years. Perhaps because of City's dominance in the league the bigger clubs are taking the cup seriously which is great.

  4. Train and Barletta have really good Norman churches and castles. Lots of historic sights round there. I'm the kind of person that likes to match my summer reads thematically with my holiday location, so I'd recommend John Julius Norwich's books on the Italian Norman kingdom, without a doubt the best English language books on the subject.
  5. Think about heading north for the day. Very pretty. Riva, Trento and Bolzano are lovely. If you get up really early you can get a train to Bolzano then a bus up to one of the valleys like Val di Tires which is so picture perfect. I don't know Verona as well but I usually go to Bella Napoli which is a good little atmospheric pizzeria run by guys from the south.
  6. Spent quite a bit of time in Florence and used to go to Trattoria da Benvenuto. Loved it at the time (late 2000s), no idea if it's still good. I also liked I Tarocchi on the south side of the Arno. A bit less touristy and very good pizza. Museo San Marco is my favourite place in Florence for art. Beautiful paintings by Fra Angelico in the original monastery cells.
  7. Labour majority of 192
  8. The transformation of the back four was one of the most impressive things I've ever seen in football. I think it was about 10 goals conceded in the second half of the season and very few of them came from teams playing through us, they were mostly good balls into the box catching us out, e.g. Aguero, Wellbeck, the West Ham goals. And that's with a defence comprised of two free transfer full backs and two relatively slow (stressing relatively) centre halves. It was awesome to watch.
  9. Feels like every time I watch Serie A these days there's a penalty in like the 12th minute of injury time.
  10. Vardy caretaker until November then rehire jobless Maresca
  11. So Gloucestershire was wonderful. Gorgeous landscapes, loads of fascinating and beautiful churches, abbeys and cathedrals, and superb cider. A walker's paradise too.
  12. Please not Rob Edwards. The new Phil Brown.
  13. If the invincible Leverkusen eventually fall to Ademola Lookman it will just be too perfect
  14. Great manager, and comes across as a classy, intelligent and charming guy. His tactics and man management in 15/16 were nothing short of genius. Was quite upsetting how it ended but it's great he's been back in the meantime and we've shown our appreciation.
  15. I think probably he already had a fair bit of dickishness about him but being in that environment has turned him into the most Liverpool manager ever. Totally vain and with an unbearable victim complex.
  16. Like the New Zealand one when there was a total white out and they were unaware they were flying into a snowy mountain
  17. Heat map of Birch's run around the pitch
  18. Thanks! Agree on the hazy stuff. That looks lovely though. And I love the beer mat...
  19. I needed an Oxford comma! I saw on real ale finder they also have a mild on from red willow. Brother Rabbit I really like so hopefully it'll still be on by the time I get there...
  20. Not that one. Was thinking of popping into the harp this afternoon though as they have Brother Rabbit on which is one of my favorites and a mild I want to try
  21. I thought Futacs was the better prospect...
  22. I will be supporting Southampton but they are such a boring club. I know it's a cliche but Leeds really are a historically big club with a great stadium, in a part of the country now quite under represented in the Premier League. Soton are just so dull. Dull city dull stadium.
  23. Yeah didn't they get like a quarter of all their points last season from us?
