in hindsight brighton won but could have easily left them in a heap if they’d got the next manager appointment wrong. The fact Potter doesn’t appear to be eager to join us to me just highlights that he sees himself as bigger and better than us. Another case of using us as a shop window rather than as a project you could achieve things with. It’s fine for a manager to have ambitions if they are putting everything in but there’s organic ways to be rewarded after good service at a club and I hope we find someone who is just as happy to stay with us long term and build their vision.

i’m happy with either of the 2 options but i’m not sure i would be excited with potter. Happy but I don’t think i’d get the feeling of ‘could we do something special here’. Corberan has that unknown appeal and the style would hopefully be more watchable. For that reason, he’s still my preference. The way potter left chelsea always felt a little distasteful and that’s left an impression on me. He demanded all the staff went with him because he didn’t want any of his ideas left with them. That might sound normal but it wasn’t… he took the staff that were there before him..including brighton legend bruno. That’s someone who obviously just sees a club as a vessel for their personal gain… it’s not someone buying into a club and being passionate about them. im not surprised they didn’t want him back.

promoted teams usually are strongest in the first few games, as they still have their momentum. A more ideal situation is that they both have 2 hard games, get hammered twice then we face them.
-
well maybe you could be right but his career has been to stop start to judge imo. He was kept around at chelsea when he should have been out on loan somewhere with more minutes. (apart from the swansea loan which probably came too soon for him). Then they decided to pursue lukaku and he was forced out. Started really well and then got injured. Im not sure you could really know what he’s got in his locker without consecutive seasons leading the line somewhere.
-
he’s only 26. If we got him for his prime years we’d be laughing. He’s never actually hit his true potential, I think he will explode at one point. His injury came at a bad time at Roma

didn’t potter move to france? wasn’t that why Nice kept trying to persuade him last summer. I seem to remember us having thoughts he was meeting potter when the plane was in france last time. Reality is that tops just honeymooning still

wasn’t walters one of the lads huth used to get up to mischief with? Just find it hard to see how a team like stoke plan to move in to the new age of football by bringing someone from the old cold wet night at stoke boys. But if he’s decent then fair play to him. -

The most shocking thing about this was learning the jon walters is now the sporting director at stoke. That’s football manager level stuff. -

that would have to be a obligation if we stay up to me. 4m loan fee + 16m if we stay up. Get it done! im sure that’s not what they way but i doubt we’ll spend 20m on anyone.
-
The most exciting thing about potter for me is what he managed to do with Mitoma. If he coaches fatawu as well as him, we’d be absolutely laughing.
-
partially unimaginative signings isn’t it. They are at another big club so they must be good. Someone will overpay for gallagher if he’s available, which it sounds like he is. They are just able to put unreasonable prices on players and teams will pay it. If we had a striker who we’d loaned to southampton and he’d done well, before spending a season on our bench (while our striker couldn’t hit anything with a banjo), got injured for ages, then sat on fulham bench…. would we dream of demanding 30m? would anyone even be daft enough to think about it? Yet broja may end up at everton for 30m. makes you sick that they will get out of ffp because of clubs allowing them to get away with their valuations like that. Surely brojas real value would be at like 12m.
-
i think it’s less than that. But even if it was 4m plus 3m per year wage. compared to 8 m, 7m at best for potter. we paid brendan 10m per year not a chance potter takes less than 7 imo.
-
the only betting anyone should do on next managers, is laying the bets. Unless you get good info at 7/1 or better it’s rarely worth it. Laying cooper was printing cash imo. Nothing about him fits
-
potter will cost more than corberan. His wage will be at least double
-
You would have said the same about mount last year. The big clubs bend over for each other
-
i just want us to play with common sense. Yes try to retain the ball but don’t take 4 passes when you can hit that space with 1. im not a fan of teams that have professional footballers that are scared to pass the ball 25 yards. it frustrates me so much when you have a wide open winger but it takes 4 people touching the ball before it gets to them. Our best football this season against southampton, both times, came from quick releases and utilizing our pace in the space.
-
why do teams keep falling for it! Nothing more one sided than deals with italian teams. We learnt the trick though and have tried it a few times but at lease we just don’t sign the option rather than trying to haggle the price down
-
yeah there’s no way we’d be loaning a player like that. Poor journalism to not mention that we were looking to purchase if there actually is anything to the link
-
well it obviously will. Potter has all the cards here tbh, if it’s a long contract it’s because he is making sure it’s worth his while. Understandable, because you want to be sure the club don’t get trigger fingers if we don’t pull away from the bottom 3 that fast, which is going to be a likely outcome. what is good about it however, is that it would mean that he sees this as a project. Scrappy first year trying to survive. stabilization year. Then looking to push towards europe. or that’s at least the optimists view
-
i think chelsea will come for him. sell gallagher for 40m pure profit for this years accounts. then sign kdh next year for 30m and spread that over 5 season like they do.
-
got blinkers because he was good at stopping penalty’s. I do wonder if huddersfield fans rated him
-
if wilf goes to everton for free and we pay 15m of our budget on this guy ,then we really are going to be after derby’s points record

I’m expecting oxford to come knocking on our door for some loans. It would be good if we could send them a couple of players. -
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qH5CEWg2U2k&pp=ygUOZGVubWFyayBub3J3YXk%3D very nice assist from VK. 8min odd in the video. I really think we need to keep him. Did this for bologna countless times.
