  1. Never get these opinions as we could get someone rated like corberan or rosenior next summer after we’ve gone down. We want to target the best we can for now (not saying that might not be coberan or someone similar) But the point is, just worry about the championship when we are back there.
  2. clubs don’t hold onto a manager that wants to leave. It’s never worked that way. This was actually smart as it gets the club some cash. if we had no release clause he’d be leaving and we’d get a pittance
  3. we have backroom staff?
  4. ffs someone give this some context? 🤣
  5. Hes not a bad purchase for that price tbh. still a young lad. Hes been decent pretty much all season except for one game… against us. So our fans have a bit of a warped view of him. I’d have taken him here for the right deal next year personally
  6. blimey, some of ours are a bit sensitive. Not sure enzo has stepped out of line at all yet. Someone in the media claims he’d be keen… well no 💩 Were going to be in a mess and he’d be going to one of the best teams in the world. One that’s underperformed for years and this means the expectations are relatively low from the fans. He’s not twerking for jobs, he even turned a very good one down for us. He’s not said anything publicly has he? isn’t it all just media chatter? It’s also the right time for all of this. Get it over at the start of summer. if it was mid season or even close to the start i’m sure he’d be being a little more sensitive in his actions. No bad blood from me whatever happens
  7. wheres the vomit emoji?
  8. get all the feels listening to him talk about how special riyad and kante were. easy to forget that we had 4 world class players in the team at the same time.
  9. destroyed them in both legs. Would be strange if he’s actually decent why he wouldn’t be joining forest though
  10. well until we are officially a premier league club we are under an embargo. So we can’t do anything
  11. that’s exactly it. Give him top players and it will always work. Not convinced he would be able to do it in a relegation scrap… obviously i’d like to see if he could but I have no doubts he’d do well at chelsea.
  12. nothing is given in football though. It’s the same old argument you get about guardiola only being good because of the money… plenty spend just as much as man city and find themselves mid table (looking at you man u and chelsea) We were in a car crash situation with a huge amount of turmoil. We had an awful set up for pre-season and we started the season with 2 youth players playing out wide. Obviously we were a good job for someone but so was leeds and southampton and one of them is not going up. He’s not been truly tested as a manager yet, that I agree with. But you have to be pretty darn good to win any league and particularly the championship. When you look at the teams involved, it was possibly the strongest it’s ever been. I don’t personally agree with the we’re too good for the championship calls… I just think he made us look that way because of how well he had us playing for a large majority of the season. I still believe that if we’d gone with parker we’d have been in the play-offs. He’s got a lot to learn and will have to be more pragmatic in the prem and he may yet fall on his face… but to not say he did a good job is outrageous
  13. I have dreams like this almost every pre-season. Cant remember a single positive dream about the club. Wildly though, in the season we won the league, I went to a thai festival where you make a lucky boat and send it down a river, you put money on, if you want riches and make a wish when you release it. Uncharacteristically, I genuinely wished that we would win the league. Not something i’d normally waste a wish on… but after that, If i had to be religious buddhism would be my bet A very strange occurrence and the only time i’ve felt a sense that maybe i control my own universe 😂
  14. Nice guy who had some good technical ability. Unfortunately without any pace or physicality the english game was never really going be a fit for him.
  15. problem is, you can’t argue that is the norm. Majority of the time those calls are right. We take that attitude for a lot of youth players and carry them for years. We’re one of the worst for not releasing players that will never cut it. The argument isn’t that kaseys not a talent. Just one where if a decent offer comes, we’d be silly not to take it. Villa fans weren’t happy about loosing archer or ramsey for big fees… but looking back they are probably feeling like they made the right calls. Don’t think anyone could argue Kasey looked as good as either of them. if someone is willing to put 5m on the table i’d take it. of course that could be a bad call but from our position, i’d think we need a few deals like that.
  16. I’m not saying he couldn’t develop further but tbf to kdh he was instantly blackpools best player, winning all of their accolades. If he had been just alright we probably wouldn’t have stuck with him. Then he stepped up to championship and again was levels apart… at the end of that, he was the profile of player we’d want to sign. All before a new deal was receieved. Chillwell… miles above championship standard and crushed it with huddersfield. Barnes… miles above again, and west broms best player. I think if they will be good enough for the prem they show it quite easily. Kasey has had a good season but for a forward player, in a team as dominant as ours… naturally it won’t paint the full picture with the player. It’s just a shame we are in a contract situation where we’d have to commit to something quite high now. A good director of football would have had a moderate deal on the table early in the season when he was getting in the first team. But now his agent will be saying that a prem player should be on XYZ. We are in the situation we are because we give plays contracts that they don’t warrant. It’s a gamble and personally if I was DOF i would be looking at Alves as the more promising player and thinking Mcateer’s stock is currently high, we can cash in for a decent sum now (all profit) and not gamble that he doesn’t make the grade. Put a buy back clause in if you’re worried just like villa have. I don’t have a crystal ball but I just see this as a gamble and one that we’re not in a position to take because of the other bad deals we’ve done.
  17. it’s not the age, just my personal assessment of his ability. Of course he could end up a great player but financially we aren’t in a situation to take many chances. I see him a bit like luke thomas, good lad, obviously has some ability but when watching you can sort of see where his ceiling is. if he’d take a championship wage then sure but that’s not how we’ve operated and you won’t find a senior pro south of 30k here my fear is he falters on loan and we’re stuck with that wage for the next 4 years. If we still have fans unconvinced after a championship season then I just don’t see it. Look at it this way, if he’d been on loan… would you want to sign him? or would you shake hands and move on?
  18. if this was a few years ago i’d take the same route. But in the current climate, we can’t afford to be adding another 30-40k to the wage bill for someone we’d be hoping makes vast improvements. The level we need is fatawu… he won’t reach that unfortunately (imo)
  19. Taking sentimentality out of it, I just can’t see him being a prem player: He’s got the feel of a being good at a lot of things, but not really a master of anything.
  20. Theyre missing the mark entirely. People just want to enjoy the moments, if there are some incorrect calls along the way… well then at least that’s a good talking point. I’d personally keep a VAR system with - a simple purpose. off the ball violent conduct and mistaken identity by an official. Anything else… play on
  21. Depends on the structure of your team. Burnley didn’t fail because of their signings, they failed because of the established players they had weren’t good enough for the prem. Players like benson and zaroury who took the championship by storm ended up doing nothing. From best player to not contributing for benson is worse than any signing. The difference is that a lot of ours have already played in the prem. Don’t think there’s any questions whether riccy, kdh, winks can step up. For me, fatawu is still going to be great, he has all of the attributes. I would have question marks over mavididi personally, he’ll play a role but i think you need another strong winger for his bad days. But you are right, there needs to be good money spent… not just by us but everyone. Clubs that sit still, tend to come down… so if the teams already there are investing 30-40m at a minimum, than of course the ones coming up need to at least match that to be competitivene. The positive examples in recent times (brentford, fulham, bournemouth) all did well as the core they developed in the championship were good enough. None of the teams this year had a solanke, mitrovic, mbuemo or a toney. Between them they didn’t have a star and without at least one player with above average prem quality, you will always struggle. For me personally, we already have a core that are. Leeds do as well. Anyone else coming up will need to be extremely savvy.
  22. 2 of burnleys best players were on loan. They looked a weaker squad in the prem than in the championship tbqh. Ian Maatson. in particular was a huge loss. Sheffield lost their best player going in and got their signings all wrong. Luton started with the weakest squad, were cautious with the signings and aimed for championship players rather than prem. All 3 did very little to give anyone reason to think they’d bridged the gap. Our squad is already better than all 3’s… yet we obviously need a lot of work. so where is the surprise that any of them came back down.
  23. I don’t mind the travelling, it’s the playing teams from your league that I can’t stand.
  24. I get the feeling Nacho is one of those guys that’s not actually too bothered about playing. He’s never seemed even slightly bothered by sitting on our bench. I don’t think many strikers would have been so calm after being benched after some of the mad runs he went on for us.
