We were offering him a stupid deal because we were desperate and locking ourselves into a 5 year deal on 100k a week is £26m in wages alone. It might have been that deal that tipped us over the edge into oblivion and would have made moves for the likes of Skipp reasonable.

New deal is important but we really should have got him properly tied up on a 4 or 5 year deal. He'll come back from him loan next summer and with only two years left on his deal he's in a decent position to negotiate. He'll still only be 18 too.

We currently have 8 forwards in our squad who are past youth football. Burns, Chaplin, Cullen, Mavididi, Alves, Watson, BDCR and soon Bristric. Minutes will be hard to come by for any youth forward this season. Evans was rightly loaned and I think it's better for Hutchinson to get game time too.

I was excited to have him as the captain because I thought they'd just give it to one of the tainted lads like Choudhury or BDCR. But you're right. I don't think they would accept that. I think they'll want him playing at a higher level. I think if we were looking for a player from their academy in a position we're light in then we should ask for Dan Gore. Defensive midfielder, did very well for Rotherham in League 1 last season and was their shining light in a poor season. Won their player of the season award.

You can if the fee isn't right. We're not a charity set up to do whatever is best for Page or United.

What's also frustrating is that, like the Monga deal, a loan back wouldn't really help us either because he'd only really take the playing time off of Braybrooke. Would rather we sold him to a club like Brentford/Brighton/Palace etc with a whacking great big sell on clause.
