One of the worst kinds of internet engagement farmers. Making the lives of everyone he comes across more difficult purely for clicks.

I remember seeing it in the cinema. Only rivalled by The Fellowship of the Ring in terms of cinematic experience for me.

Oil as anything but a commodity stock and a means to create plastics etc is an absolute busted flush, morally, economically and environmentally. Everyone apart from those wanting the future to burn for the sake of short term self interest knows this. Not challenging the point you made in any way there, just an observation. Another problem that would be solved by a nice piece of compulsory purchase legislation, then. You get your accommodation at Turnberry at non-shitbag-American prices and have to spend less time around the aforementioned shitbags for your nieces wedding.
-
That makes sense. Tbh we could solve some of that particular problem by seizing both courses in the UK that he owns by compulsory purchase. I'm sure that some some legal eagle could come up with a suitable justification. Then Turnberry can be used for the Open again and all the right people including @Izzy are happy.

Why hasn't someone in the UK diplomatic corps risked their job by telling this man exactly what a vast proportion of the UK population think of him yet?

Passengers is... well, passable. For relatively recent space movies, both Interstellar and The Martian are worth a look.

Carney has always been a shrewd and skilled political operator. We definitely need more of those in high office right now. The self interested and the sociopathic have had control for too long already.
-
Yeah, but other than that it's alright over there... right?
-
Shame it's not been implemented before, but good that it's going ahead now. A key part of the suite of solutions needed.

Ar this point, the Dems really just only have to stand and watch him pretty much wreck all Repub chance both later this year and in 2028 for them.
-
Ditto. Shame to see another opportunity go begging for Rose, but Rory showed the class when it mattered and glad he's done back to back.
-
Come on Justin, home straight...
-
Grandstand finish incoming!

Certainly a part of it then. Hopefully more to follow in the midterms in the US.

Vance appears to be pure political botulinium right now. Anyone who actually cares about the future loves to see it.

Could well be part of the picture but if it was all of it, then I think Orban would have been out in his ear before now. At least it's happened, looking forward to the meltdown on "Truth" Social soon.
-
I must say I'm surprised. Must the be the degree of the loss that means he can't put up any pretense of being "stolen".

Come on Rory and Justin, the Americans don't need to be any more insufferable than they are already.
-
Rose or Rory please. Definitely not any American.

What's the diplomatic wording for "fvck off, your arrogance, bombast, incompetence, assumption you can push people round and abuse of power are all sickening" again?
-
Record turnout in the Hungarian election. Usually that's better news for the challenger than the incumbent, but we'll see.
-
I have no doubt that should Orban lose (which it looks like he may), he'll instigate some kind of measure, possibly violent, to stay in power. It's a matter of necessity that it doesn't succeed.

As an addendum to this, transportation is one part of the puzzle, but a much smaller one than power generation and so less worthy of attention. Don't let quibbling about it become a distraction from more vital areas of change. Yes, getting ICE vehicles off the road (for the most part) is a good thing to aim for, but changing up power generation infrastructure has to take priority.

It is absolutely essential, yes. I was rather understating things by just saying "good". Absolutely right with the rest of it there - and the sooner we get "there", the less damage will be caused. We don't even have to rely on anecdotes either - we have hard, reliable, conclusive scientific consensus of data that shows both the human contribution to carbon emissions since the Industrial Revolution and how that increase in emissions is driving a temperature increase. We also have evidence as to what that increase is doing to the Earth (and to us) now, and a damn good idea of what it will do if left unchecked. It is disingenuous, unambitious, and I would add horribly self-centred to that as well. But progress needs to be made in spite of that and them, or this era of humanity will be remembered by those who come after us as the one responsible for leaving them an Earth vastly less habitable than the one that we have now. The one that let the sixth biodiversity mass extinction event play out even though they had the power to stop it.

Well, as for the event of actually being the next to land a human on the Moon, you might get your wish. The Chinese have a plan in place, and they're on schedule.
