Nah, from what I remember of the ref comms when it happened they did look at that and ref concluded pretty quickly that it was legit, which was a relief because it did look pretty borderline. Edit: one of the Argentina players was bellyaching about it into the refs ear for a lot of the check, IIRC.

It's rather frustrating that a lot of people treat changing ones mind while in leadership, regardless of the context surrounding the decision, as some kind of unforgivable sin.

AI is such a tricky one. On the one hand, it is the bleeding edge of tech and so many other nations are pouring resources into it, it seems obvious to follow the lead. On the other, it's likely the one area of tech development which is an utter Pandoras Box for me - the outcome of AI development in the way it's being done will both be highly consequential to every human alive and (almost absolutely) massively unpredictable. It's a roulette wheel where the stakes are near-absolute IMO, and I'm not sure at all whether that level of risk is necessary.

There's a lot of bot accounts on there these days that have their accounts locked too. Meta doesn't care because engagement with the ones spewing bigoted bollocks gets clicks, which gets ad revenue, which gets profit. As far as I know, their entire moderation process is automated these days.
