I dunno, I quite liked the labelling of giving more of a toss about the future than profit in the present as “unaffordable eco-zealotry”. Didn't anyone else?

That's the way it would work in a different world. In our current world, however, he knows that the very idea of truth is subvertable if you say the right things, so he knows that he can keep saying it and keep attempting for it to gain hold as a message, even though it's blatantly untrue. "Alternative facts".

It's an unfortunate corollary of universal social media that people like this and their ideologies can reach very far.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cp335p7x315o A good breakdown. And it's good to see that everyone (with the exception of "short term self-interest and who cares if hundreds of millions elsewhere die" Reform) is singing from pretty much the same hymn sheet on the overall objective.

I reckon so too for this election, but as per above, I fear how many seats they or other parties of similar ideology will score next time round.

I'm not sure about the desperation. I think that they see the reach the far right has in certain places in Europe and the US and are tilting for the same kind of power, driven by the longer castable shadow of social media. They won't get it this time round, but in a few years with the Tories weakened as they are, it might be a good idea to be vigilant about something much worse becoming the second party. Or even the first.

Learned from social media and their counterparts across the pond. All the same "happy to see the world burn as long as we continue to dominate it and rule the ashes" energy.

Whatever style is best suited to get a result in the situation. Everything else is just froth.

Currently has a 100% Slam final record too. Expect he'll have quite a few titles by the time he's done.

Putin must be allowing himself a quiet smile after the EU elections, given the ascendancy of those more likely to give him free rein in Ukraine. Perhaps his social media manipulation and idea to outlast his political opposition is starting to pay off. I hope not.

Could well be yet another "Votez pour l'escroc, pas pour le facho" situation.

All comes down to the Scotland-Aus game. England need to beat Oman and Namibia as well as Scotland do (or have) and then hope Aus beat Scotland more conclusively than they did England. Which is not implausible, the weather being the biggest factor. -
... something I've also noted from the news tonight, yeah. Also agree that it represents a huge challenge for developing countries and the way things are playing out, and everyone else too - but it's one that has to be met, or the consequences really don't bear thinking about. I fear that there may be rather a lot of people who consider those consequences in all their ugliness to be acceptable, though.

Yeah, and those who want to put the harsher limits on migration oddly enough encourage worldwide situations where such migration is likely to occur and certainly lack the foresight to see the really massive migration crisis on the horizon wrt hundreds of millions of people lacking access to potable water and arable land. It could be argued that immigration is beneficial from the point of view that if there isn't an efficient policy in place to facilitate it, lots of people will be in danger now and a truly gargantuan amount of people will be in mortal danger soon.

NYC weather not playing ball, then. -
The Overton Window and where exactly it is in various places makes for a fascinating study tbh.

I can't speak for anyone else but AFAIC the bolded is an irrelevant argument that's often brought up to muddy the waters anyway. The simple legal and logical argument IMO is that in no other circumstance is a human being criminally legally obliged to protect the life and health of another human being when doing so would, or even could, threaten their own health and life. The moral arguments that are so often relied upon don't come into it. That this one instance where the above is attempted to be legislated for and all others aren't is hypocrisy of the highest order.

I would be interested in knowing more about the ideological link between these two things, other than the death of an individual and the role the state may or may not have on it.

Yeah, it's not like he'll give two shites when he's Stateside and set up on the speaking/lecture circuit for life and doesn't have to associate with anyone of the British public that might bother him again.

Unfortunate that the early pace couldn't be maintained. If Scotland get closer to the Aussies than England do - and that's assuming they beat Oman by similar or larger margin than England do - then they deserve to go through. Should still expect England to qualify IMO. -
Group C: Slovenia, Denmark, Serbia, England

Fair argument. I guess only time is going to tell. -

.... is that the right response judging by the commentary then? I do remember the Saffers setting 230 odd and England chasing it down spectacularly in a previous T20 competition...
