  1. Apparently you should only judge a score once both sides have batted...
  2. Some of us are still old enough to remember the 90s and early 00s on that score...
  3. Considering their record leading up to this, it may still be viewed as a missed opportunity once more, though.
  4. Mouat is well known as the consistently best player in the world, but that's twice he's come up second in an Olympic final now.
  5. So damn frustrating. Threw that away in the 9th.
  6. On such fine margins... Can't see Canada giving up three in the last end.
  7. Damn, so close.
  8. When it's all considered to be a massive money laundering market, then it becomes less ridiculous and more realistically criminal, I think. On the general topic, it's been said before, it will be said again here and it's obvious - to guarantee the future, any kind of future, for our species, both of the options discussed above need to be done. That has to be possible, because if it's not the results are dire for a great many people no matter what.
  9. Far too many errors at critical moments for England so far and it's showing.
  10. More projection than an ubermultiplex cinema full of narcissists talking to each other about themselves.
  11. Exactly so, yes. Fantastic news. Think I said when it was first published though; what is it with the timing of NASA astronauts heading for the Moon and the US President being a felon? Weird that it's happening twice.
  12. TBF the Supreme Court did also decline to hear a challenge to Obergefell v Hodges a while back (thus ensuring LGBT people aren't once again reduced to second-class citizens in that regard), so there's at least a little previous of those checks and balances actually working. Would be rather nice to see more of it, though.
  13. Great stuff. Am rather amazed this research got past the current RFK-run Dept of Health over there, though.
  14. Oil companies knew that climate change and their effect on it was real in the 1970s (which of course, they denied). I guess it's in keeping with the overall arch of the programme to have them lie at such a conference, but I'm hoping that lie was made at least reasonably apparent.
  15. Either an England win or maximum embarrassment for the hosts, or both, please.
  16. Do go ahead and keep reinforcing the stereotype
  17. That game turned on that one shot at the end of the 6th.
  18. GB had better win this final end or the evening will be really let down.
  19. You better not lose to that bunch of wasters. They've caused enough problems today and before.
  20. What a shot! Even Steve Cram was yelling "get in!"
  21. GB men 4-4 in the semi final v Switzerland, four ends to go...
  22. "Help! I'm being REPRESSED!"
  23. Not at all, it's more a warning of thought rather than an accusation. I've clarified things a bit further down. I guess I'm leery of any institution that has a power imbalance in the way monarchies have in the past because I've seen what that power does to far too many people, and as such I worry (probably too much) about any possible hints of a slippery slope towards that, even unintentional. I absolutely agree though that as far as can be ascertained the current power is (mostly) being used wisely, is (at least mostly) accountable, and that the justice system should be allowed ru do its job.
  24. It's the hope that kills you. Well, there were opportunities before and you don't really want to go into the finale needing other teams to help you out...
