The Running Thread (formerly How fast can you run a 5k?)
LcFc_Smiv replied to Sly's topic in General Chat
22 mins 28 seconds, my fastest for about 5 years, and probably my fastest ever training run. Pleased because I've put quite a bit of effort in the past few months and then some bits have knocked my confidence over the past week or 2. Today has given me that motivation again. -
Even the Ipswich result last night, what with this young, forward thinking manager and all these highly rated signings they have beaten us too... If that was us, the cooper out thread would be at 90+ pages
-
Was looking at moving onto a fixed tariff, went to put in my meter readings this morning and realised E.ON next have put in a massive overestimate for gas last month. We were away at the time and I didn't submit as usual. I've now got to ring them and do battle trying to get them to see sense and amend with all the evidence stating it's an error on their end. I've been here before and it took months to sort, I imagine this is gonna be a massive issue when I want to leave for another provider and we're classed as in debit to them.

I think Jebbison went for a free at the end of his contract at Sheff Utd, you might be thinking of Osula who went Newcastle for £15m which is just bizarre. Some proper dodgy deals with these financial constraints in place
-
Madness how Daniel Jebbison was snapped up by a prem club, he's nowhere near the standard
-
Barnes has changed the game for Newcastle.

I think we are and will be better than Everton, Southampton and Ipswich, the question will be can accumulate enough of a gap in points for when we get our deduction. I've been ok with how we have started the season, negative over reactions seems to be the current theme on here at the moment. While I understand it to some extent, the going after certain signings and the manager when the season is very much in its infancy doesn't sit right with me. I think we will see a lot more from this team in a month or so after the international break , I think we definitely need one or two good quality attacking signings who can make a difference.

The rot seems to be set more on here than anywhere else, there's work to be done but we're competitive.

No new rules, Vardy is offside- objective, was he blocking the view of the keeper?- subjective, on field ref has to make the subjective call. Same as its always been.
-
Because objectively he's offside, but it's a subjective decision that's down to the on field ref to decide whether he's blocking the view of the keeper.
-
That's exactly how it should be used, excellent officiating.
-
He pushes Vardy out of his view which is why they give it 😂
-
The Sean Dyche pre-match presser couldn't sound any worse from an Everton perspective. Reporting some new injuries, likely to be no more signings and a stretched squad with a limited amount of first team players available.
-
Had a very good first season, last season he was a shadow of that player made rash decisions in and out of possession, positionally horrendous and got bullied at set pieces often. Hard to say whether that is down to him or the team that he was playing in but Jack Robinson looked more solid (as solid as you can look in a team that conceded 5 week in week out) than him at the back. Maybe needs to get some confidence back, maybe just needs to be at a club he wants to be at, but on last years showing he could be a gamble.

Everyone responds differently but the best thing you can do is some isometric strength work. If you use a gym then going on a leg press with a light weight and holding at the bottom for 3 sets of 5seconds and building up your time from there. As you build the time (I'd work up to 30s max) you can increase the load also. There's a bit of science to it and everyone responds differently and to isometric holds at different angles. Essentially getting the tendons stronger is the best way to help it get better and prevent it happening again. You will also want to manage your running load and pace, a sharp increase in either will make it angry, so best thing to do is build up real small at a slow pace with a distance you can manage with no pain. Aim to progress your distance in small increments. It's not a nice one to be carrying and can be massively frustrating. -
Never rated Berge, watched him a lot at Sheffield United and could never get my head around the fuss that was made of him. I think if you ask a lot of the Utd support they would agree they had players who contributed far more but didn't get the rave reviews Berge was getting at that time.

A massive F you to a large number on here, the constant negativity day in day out, I don't care if it's one result, it was everything that so many of you said it wouldn't be!- 530 replies

I see Tops not bothered to show up, chants of 'where's our chairman gone' anyone?
-
They are and some of their build up play has been brilliant but when they cross the line into that 18 yard box it's like everything slows down.
-
This Chelsea team is exactly like us, some really good bits but around the box everything becomes almost slow motion and clunky
-
Glad the lack of movement when in possession wasn't exclusive to us
-
I imagine that was the though process behind them bringing in Ben Johnson who I imagine will be starting in the not too distant future.
-
How can Dyche say that is ever a penalty? absolute joker

You've taken one line of my post in which it didn't reflect anything of what you have suggested and decided to go on a rant where your opinion is based on nothing more concrete than mine? No one is making him out to be a guaranteed premier league number 9, just lumping a bit of hope that if he's the one to start that he will be able to show at least something that can scrape us through until the club brings someone in. There's no issue in choosing a bit of optimism ahead of Monday and the situation we find ourselves in.

Let's hope certain individuals get their shit together then
