Not having that Norwich were crap. It finally came together and we finally took our chances when on top. They may have been poor but we made them look that way. They offered just as much as Boro and QPR, we were just better today.

If it stays like this then we’re in a very handy position again after we all collectively crapped the bed. Especially with Ipswich’s run in.

Can any technical nerds outline why Ipswich are so good? They press but it isn’t amazing, they transition but it’s not that fast, their defence always looks vulnerable etc. Are they just incredibly efficient?

My view from here. If KDH, Ndidi, Ricardo and Doyle stay fit. We go up, and probably win every game from here on in. If not, then I fear for us.

Said on the other thread but with Ricardo and Doyle, we have two more attacking players. This means KDH and Ndidi can play further forward as they’re not having to get the ball from the defence as Ricardo and Doyle bring it forward. This means they can threaten the opposition and drag defenders towards them, meaning the two wingers get more space. And hey presto goals came from out wide again. If we play Ricardo and Doyle in every game, we will improve more and more and KDH will be able to be an attacking threat again as he’ll have the ball far further forward. KDH and Winks have basically been doing the attacking work for 4 players. Even Casadei, is missed in this aspect.

We were literally playing with two more attackers with them. It means KDH and Ndidi don’t have to drop too deep to win the ball, puts them in attacking positions, which then gives the wingers more space. The strikers didn’t miss easy chances today because they didn’t get any, as everyone else was further forward getting chances. Which is what was happening up until February.

I think that Enzo ball does look like that it’s just that with jeopardy; we revert to that.

That’s exactly why we should be wanting a Southampton win. A saints win means we’re a point ahead of Ipswich with a game in hand and with them to play Norwich, Hull and Coventry away.
