  1. What’s a compassionate way to respond to someone who hates the Labour Party now and can’t see the differences between Labour and conversative. I want to convince them that there is a difference with policies but they’re just saying that Keir Starmer is a fascist.
  2. 250 still gives them a chance on this deck
  3. If you’re interested in this topic then it’s a big deal but outside of an online niche, this will have zero impact. I personally was also disappointed but I understand the ‘other side’. Ultimately for the majority in the country, the collapse of financial well-being, council services, the nhs, the welfare system, the immigration system, social care, education etc etc etc, is far more important than a conflict that we as a country have little control over, let alone the Labour Party. Labour are between 20 and 30 points ahead in the polls, there’s zero chance that this has any impact on them.
  4. I'd imagine the former but there's some who want to stand by their own communities, it is incredibly difficult and I do think a free vote is fine. In some examples, it's ok to have a broadchurch of opinions in a party especially when it would have next to no consequences, which is the daft thing about all of this. It is purely performative.
  5. The Labour Party just need to do an agree to disagree thing with this ceasefire amendment and move on like adults. They’re a bigger fish to fry at a domestic level.
  6. New Zealand looks well set there but the drinks break completely interrupted the momentum they were gaining. Only one winner here and only one winner in the tournament unless South Africa can do something special as I think they're the only team whose batting could challenge India.
  7. Technically you’re correct but that’s not what general elections are in reality. We’re also on about the twentieth iteration of the post 2019 Tory manifesto which surely needs electoral scrutiny sometime soon?
  8. Inflation has fallen to 4.6%. Rishi Sunak, lord saviour has saved us from the abyss. I can’t wait to spend all of my extra cash on everything now I can afford it because inflation is only 4.6%. 4.6%!! now call an election and see what the rest of the public think!
  9. My favourite news thing over the last few days was the favourite to win the Argentine presidency basically throwing away his chance by saying that Thatcher is his political hero.
  10. Empire podcast is a very good listen, especially the first series about the British in India. But their follow up series on Ottoman and currently Russian empires are also great. Of course, imperialism is nearly always bad.
  11. Apologies for my last post.
  12. Damn very lucky! Me and a my group of 6 applied for the same 15 games so 90(x2) tickets and didn’t get a single one.
  13. Crikey, I did not expect that.
  14. To those on the very left https://www.camdennewjournal.co.uk/article/mick-lynch-people-may-hold-their-nose-but-they-have-to-vote-in-a-labour-governmentwa
  15. I don’t think so. I think it’s pretty evident Hamas commit evil acts of terror even if you feel they’re provoked by Israel. Corbyn is way off the deep end.
  16. Any experiences of Krakow for a couples holiday for a couple of nights?
  17. Hope you had a Francesinha, filthy stuff.
  18. One thing I don't get is that the tories promised mental health act reform in both the 2017 and 2019 manifestos and yet every year fail to put it in the kings speech despite the legislation being there ready to go. The existing act is not fit for purpose, allows for solitary confinement of people with autism and learning disabilities for one. What are the political/beurocratic reasons why they can't push this through?
  19. This country cannot survive on tax cuts. The economy is stagnant, councils are running out of money, millions are living in destitution, the health system is slowly failing. If we can't get economic growth, then tax cuts would be catastrophic aka Truss.
  20. Kind of, but I do feel that he'll be palatable to those in the south who could be won over by a boring centrist like Starmer but now see a safe pair of hands in Cameron, so wont vote for change.
  21. Bringing Cameron back is a wise move. A much more palatable politician and someone who can make the tories electable again!
  22. Let’s not forget the whole original furore in London was supposedly because the centotaph was going to get attacked by the protest.
  23. "Over the past 36 days, the World Health Organization has recorded at least 137 attacks on healthcare units in Gaza, resulting in 521 deaths and 686 injuries, including 16 deaths and 38 injuries of health workers on duty. "More than half of the hospitals in the Gaza Strip are closed. Those still functioning are under massive strain and can only provide very limited emergency services, the UN agency said."
  24. Kirk should be under pressure.
