  1. I don't think it's whataboutness, I want to see compatriots on the left fight for the most vulnerable in this country too, who often are refugees, immigrants and people with disabilities. I wasn't seeing it before this crisis.
  2. Myanmar and China are both recent examples.
  3. Lol this is not destitution. Destitution is life threatening. I'm not saying they should pick one, I'm saying that there's a crisis here which they actually have an influence over but they choose to ignore compared to one where they have basically zero influence. I am of the left, I want a ceasefire in Gaza and a focus on the issues which are causing massive suffering and injustice on our shores.
  4. We have 1 million kids living in destitution in the UK and all these left wing ‘empaths’ care about is Palestine, where they can have zero influence. The left is silly.
  5. It’s interesting in the ‘free speech’ debate because ultimately the ones who often cry about free speech aka Laurence Fox are the ones now calling for Hamza to be lynched. I don’t think he is wise to tweet this, and I have my doubts as to what his actual opinions are but I’m not sure he should be charged? It’s a dangerous precedent.
  6. Yes basically, the classic case of do your research before saying it.
  7. Should be a life ban.
  8. He said "from the river to the sea"* which is a quote associated with Palestinian freedom, however it is also used in some contexts as a call to arms to erase the state of Israel. At best it indicates a one-state Palestinian solution to the issue, which is obviously not great as the two-state solution is UN approved and is obviously the most likely way to peace. *I do not agree with the quote.
  9. The police have to I think, on the basis that it's a sudden death? I don't see any point in pursuing a criminal charge, firstly, this guy will have to live with the knowledge that he killed somebody for the rest of his life, that is a life sentence in itself. Secondly, there is no way you would be able to prove intent to hurt UNLESS he had tried something similar earlier in the match. There is absolute overwhelming doubt that it was intentional. Dragging it out in the courts would be even more traumatic than it already is. That is not justice.
  10. So I don’t watch a lot of ice hockey (although have been to numerous panthers games) but I do watch a lot of rugby. In rugby there are a lot of dangerous collisions which occur due to bad technique but also rapid change of dynamics. Now therefore it’s hard to prove intent in rugby, now fast forward those collisions by 5 times and you get an ice hockey collision. The poor bloke who died was falling while the other player clearly found himself in an awkward position. The idea that he went in to hurt him let alone kill him, is imo absolutely insane. If you look at where the ‘murder’ narrative is being driven from, it’s white supremacy corners of Twitter, as the Sheffield player is black. They are accusing that this is a racially aggravated murder. That should be a sign that this is again absolutely insane. Accidents happen. It’s messed up but what would even be justice?
  11. If somebody genuinely thinks he did that on purpose, it probably says more about the depravity and cynicism in their mind rather than anything the player did.
  12. Ah that race lasted about 5 seconds, fair enough.
  13. It’s all happening, Lyon’s manager attacked by Marseille fans. NEC striker collapses on the pitch but thankfully ok.
  14. That's a foul but I don't think it's a clear and obvious error. He only gets it because of shouting at the ref.
  15. Lansdown is a nightmare to be fair. I hope he puts his feet up for a couple of years.
  16. No because he doesn't get on with Root.
  17. Proof that refereeing is impossible when a ref gets a difficult decision 10/10 spot on and people are still complaining.
  18. France and Ireland fans must have been feeling pig sick watching that.
  19. I think Fury has looked mentally unwell in the lead up to this fight. Not surprised he struggled.
  20. What horrific news regarding the Panthers player.
  21. Abdul is a complete lunatic, I love him. The new Schlupp but not as thick.
  22. I didn't realise that Leicester City Council veto'd it. Having listened to the rest is politics podcast with Burnham and Street, it's absolutely insane that they refused to be in an East Midlands Combined authority. We will be completely left behind all through greed, while you'll see Nottingham and Derby thrive.
  23. The closest we've come to thumping anyone was Preston and Southampton I think. We've struggled against the lower teams to put them away.
  24. Cardiff also were 4-0 against Huddersfield after 50 minutes on Tuesday so it may just be that Huddersfield are terrible.
  25. The UN is a diplomatic forum, not an enforcer of international law and rule. It’s purpose is diplomacy and for that most part it works, the current secretary general has been great as was Kofi Annan back in the day.
